... then how come she let Beaver play with Larry Mondello? The Mondellos were obviously the Cleavers' social inferiors.

Good point! I never seen June as a snob but someone just afraid of the "unknown" or something different. She was definately overprotective which some people see as being a snob. And if she was a tad on the snobby side, you can thank aunt Martha for that one.

Well, some have suggested that June was a snob. Probably because she went to boarding school. Boarding schools and prep schools carry connotations of snobbery. Anyways, I never felt June acted like a snob. Aunt Martha' friend (Mrs. Hathaway) was another story; she was a full blown snob - what with all her talk about "the general."

heres an interesting tidbit irene tedrow who played mrs. hathaway also played aunt martha in a flashback sequnce on the new leave it to beaver.
