On August 14, 2004 in the middle of the afternoon (east coast - late morning west coast) on a Saturday in the summer, Sitcoms Online had its most users ever online- 838.

I find that a bit odd.

Still though, any day that ends up being the one with the most users will have more than half guests. I'm wondering why this particular day- Saturday
afternoon in the summer.

A previous most user day was right after John Ritter died.
That makes sense.

Someone probably tried to hotlink a picture. Before then the most users was 778 as a result of someone doing that.

I NEVER knew why that happened, perhaps it was just a coicidence but it completely blows away the former record.

That was the day after Hurricane Charley slammed into Florida, and most of the users down there likely had no power, so that makes it even more unlikely to be right.

Actually, what happened was is that I had no internet access for a week, and upon my return to SO, members just flocked in droves to welcome me back on that day in question.

I was on here that day, that was the day my computer died.
So everyone cried their asses off when I was not here, the end.

i think i was here that day too because i had just gotten my net accaess back about 2 weeks before and i was going net crazy

Well it IS summer...a lot of people didn't have much to do and yeah.
