Robbie

I don't remember the shows without Ernie, and he was about 2 years older than I was, so I always thought of him (if any of them) as my 'favorite.' I know most fans (in the 60's) thought Ernie was dumb, and sometimes he was. More often, though, he was just self-conscious or nervous. But he was also loyal, creative, and imaginative-- the latter could be good or bad, depending on the situation.

While comparing character qualities... Robbie was smart, 'magnetic,' and deep, for his good points. But he was also stubborn and pushy, and let any amount of success go to his head.

Chip was too 'smooth and steady,' no matter what age he was in an episode. He was rarely thrilled and rarely angered, no matter what had happened. I can't say I dislike that, but being much the same way myself, I don't know how many times someone has asked me something along the line of, "Don't you ever get excited about anything?"

I don't know enough about Mike to opine about him. But Uncle Charley was the most entertaining character, more than any of the brothers.

Mike was my favorite and Robbie was my least favorite. I also preferred Uncle Charley over Bub.

Before I ever saw the b/w shows, Ernie was my favorite. But after seeing the b/w shows for the first time in the 1980's Mike is my favorite brother. He seemed the most sensible and nice of all the brothers. I like Bub & Uncle Charlie, always like the grouchy old men in any show, but if I had to choose, Bub would be my favorite, he seemed to really like the kids, Charlie seemed to really be bugged by them.

Chip was my favorite, he reminds me of my cousin and I liked Bub better
than Charlie.

Chip. He was the next-to-youngest son, as I am, and at the time My Three Sons aired, we were about the same age--so I identified with him. Robbie was cool too. Reminded me of my older brother.

I only remember the very late episodes when they first aired (the ones after Steve married), so most of what I know about the show I saw in reruns when I was a teen. And they never showed the older episodes with Mike.

I liked Robbie best because he played guitar and had a band, and as a teen, we all wanted to be the next Beatles.

I have only seen a handful of the B&W episodes (in late '80's when I would visit my brother and they were on Nick at Night). Wasn't Bub the boys grandfather and Charlie Bub's brother?

I wish TV Land would run the series from start to finish so I could see all the early shows.

Mike because he was cool, always on the phone and toward the last owned a Pontiac GTO....the ultimate in cool mid-decade 1960s. I liked Chip because he was steady, Ernie because he was curious, and Robbie because he was always trying to outdo Mike and just wasn't old enough.

Bub had better chemistry with the boys...particularly Chip and I think he really favored Chip in real life. I know the last episode William Frawley was on, I believe 1965 when he was packing to go take care of an old lodge brother or something, you could see how shook up he was about saying goodbye to Chip, and you could tell the feeling was mutual...one of the more touching moments of the series. I liked Uncle Charley okay but had an uncle just like him who wasn't all that nice.

Mike, he invented level-headedness. He had such a nice calming personality. I really liked all though.

Probably Mike, because he was the oldest of three kids, as I am! :D

Mike was my favorite of the 3 sons.He was level headed and cool and was better as a big brother than Robbie was later w/no disrespect for Robbie. After Bub left and Mike left and the color eps.started,it seemed as if there was a something missing,a hole was left in the show that was never filled, almost as if there was a death in the family. It seemed as if the fun days of My 3 Sons was over.

Mike was always my favorite. I hated it when he left the show. It would have been interesting to see how the show went, had he stayed through the entire series.

I grew up knowing only the color reruns, so Ernie, in that regard. By the time, I got Nick at Nite, they had relegated the b&w reruns to late at night and I didn't catch that many of them.

I would say Robert first because; when I was teenager Robbie related to me as I was growing up (experiencing things or dealing with people). Mike had to be a second because Mike was the oldest, good hearted , levelheaded and he dealt with alot life matters earlier than I would want to experience myself. I think I learned by his mistakes. Erine and Chipper I would say make think I am young and playful everyday. :)

I like all of them, but I would vote for Robbie because he was the coolest.

During the first couple of seasons, I liked Chip the best because he was
precocious and a little bit mischievous. But as he got older, he wasn't as
funny as he was when he was younger. In the later seasons, I guess I
preferred Robbie. But all four had good personalities. I remember Tim Considine (Mike), from his many Disney movies and TV shows (esp. the Mickey Mouse Club serials "Spin and Marty" and "The Hardy Boys"). Good actor.

Mike

It's been years since I've seen the series on Nick at Nite but I remember enjoying the Mike-centric episodes especially with his girlfriend/fiancee Sally.
