geez, if the dad worked for the police (or whatever) he should had known better than to leave a loaded gun out where a 5 year old could get a hold of it.

When will people learn that loaded guns should never be in the reach of young children??
If he is a police officer, he should keep his service weapon away from his
children. Charge him, but not the mother. The Tarrant County Sheriff's
Department should suspend or maybe fire him.

It said it wasn't his service weapon; it was his own personal gun.
