This telemarketer called my job today asking about a subscription and how I liked it. I told them I was busy and didn't remember subsribing to it. Last week, Discover called me and asked if I wanted them to go into my checking account and get $100 a month if I wanted my bill reduced! Them son of a bitches had a lot of nerve asking me that! I got god credit with Discover and don't really need the bill reduced. I almost cursed them out when they asked me that. Then at times my cable company will call and offer something brand new to my service. I can't stand telemarketers.

Last time a telemarketer called the house, I let them say their piece without interruption....and then tried to sell them some computer parts.

LOL that's pretty good.

When they ask for Mr/Mrs whoever.. I usually just say , "yea, hang on a minute", then sit down the phone and see how long it takes for them to hang up.

That's a good idea.

Back in 2003 we'd get a phone call from the same telemarketer every day for like a month...I had to use Dialup back then for a short period so we just about missed them all, but they showed up on our callwave log so thats how I knew.

Give me the number. I'll give it to the telemarketers when they call me. I'm sure you won't mind.

I always hang up if they get my last name wrong. That's how I know it's a telemarketer.

In most cases, the Id is blocked, so I don't know if it is them or not

I got a recorded telemarketer at work telling, I don't know, the whole business I guess, that we got an $8000 credit line! I wonder if that meant everyone in the building?

The last time one called my little sister answered and told them "Lies, Lies, It's all Lies." and then she hung up on them. Another time she coughed really loud and hung up on them.

Pretty often I get a call and when I answer; it beeps like a fax machine on the other end. So, when I recognize the name and/or number; I answer and hang up right away.

Yeah, I get those annoying calls too; in fact one of them just called me today about 15 minutes ago and just couldn't take a hint. I kept saying that I wasn't interested and he just kept going on and on even though I said that I just wasn't interested. Finally, for the last time; I said not interested and it was quiet on the other end so I just hung up. Usually when I say that I am not interested; they will say "ok" thank you for your time and they say "goodbye" and that's the end of it but others like him today just didn't want to take "no" for an answer and get me all frustrated and mad.

I was very successful as a telemarketer because I never sounded to CHEERFUL when I called people, I always sounded like I was a bill collector with GOOD NEWS-lol

Why are telemarketers calling your work? I have caller ID so rarely do I have that problem. However, there is a solution to this problem. Having worked in the phone company this was something I would tell the customers when they were being harassed or bugged by these jerks:
When they call, ask for their name, ask for the company name and then YOU TELL THEM "Put me and this number on your DO NOT CALL LIST"...i am noting your name, the company name and the date and time of this call. If you call me again you are in violation of PUC code and you and your company will be fined.
Mind you, as soon as I state "Put me on your DO NOT CALL LIST"...right away they say "ok" and "sorry" and they tell me "I will do that immediately" and they hang up. All the telemarketers are aware of this and they know the consequences of the violation. Only once did I have to spew out all of the above info.

I have telemarketers call my cell phone. Probably about once a week so not that bad, but it's still annoying.

yeah we get them. It's so annoying so i just mess with their heads and make up a fake voice (arabian/raspy old lady/ britney spears etc) and ramble about having herpies or aids or something. or tell them "i've fallen and can't get up", I can't beleive its not butter, or that i need a tampon. usually there's a long scilence and they hang up.

i guess thats why my mother makes me answer it when its a telemarketer haha

Yeah I have telemarketers calling my house just about everyday. When I answer the phone I tell them to hold on for just a second and then I hang up.

Man, this thread is over a year old! I have since filed bankruptcy. I do have caller ID, Irene, but some telemarketers are not listed on the ID, so I had to take a chance and answer it.

I didn't even notice the date...LMAO!!! who bumped this up????

what does your caller ID say when it is a telemarketer? 99 percent of the time, my caller ID says: UNKNOWN...that tells me alot because I have Anonymous Call Reject and everyone who calls me has to release their block and it will show their name and number. That only leaves those bastards that are bill collectors or telemarketers. I rarely get a call like that because of the thing i tell them (which i said in my previous post here).

One thing I've always wanted to do with a telemarketer but was just too chicken to do it was to scream loudly, "Ohmigod! Help me! He's got a knife and he's coming after me! AAUUGGHHHH!!!" and drop the phone. I just could never get the nerve. We're on the Do Not Call list, so we really don't get too many of those anymore.

Next time you see a telemarketer calling pick up and answer with a stores or company name. they'll take your name off the list.

Most of the time, it says Private or Unknown. I don't have those features you have.
