Perhaps I should have asked this under the 'Friends' post, but i didn't.
I have been wondering for a while about the Friends' pilot episode. I don't think I have ever seen it and I also missed a few shows when the series started (I don't remember when I started watching regularly).
Anyway, my question is this: I saw part of a show in which Monica and Rachael seemed to have just met after a long seperation from each other, Rachael didn't really seem to know Monica. They of course were not roommates and I don't think Joey and Chandler were living together. Was this supposed to be real or was it one of those shows that went back and asked "What if?"
The reason I ask is b/c Rachael and Mon went to the prom together and later in the series it proved they were best friends in high school and stuff. (I don't know about anyone else, but I have not forgotten my best friend in high school and don't think I could).
Sorry this is so long and confusing. If anyone knows what I am talking about and can help me figure this out, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Ok, I can totally help you out. There are two possible answers to your question, I'll give you both. The first one is that in the pilot episode basically Rachel runs into Monica at Central Perk wearing her wedding dress. She had come directly from running out on her wedding. They hadn't really seen each other in a while, hence the fact that Monica wasn't invited to the wedding. I guess it was just implied they had lost touch after college. The other thing you might be thinking of is an episode that was all flashbacks. In this one Janice asks them all if they ever almost had sex with one another, which leads to all these flashbacks. This is when Phoebe still lived with Monica and Joey hadn't yet moved in with Chandler. Basically Rachel just randomly runs into Monica and they talk briefly, because frankly Rachel is a huge snob. Rachel was engaged at the time and had no intentions of moving in with Monica yet. Also during the course of that episode Joey moves in with Chandler. So one of those 2 should answer your question.

Yes, that is it. Thank you so much, that has been driving me so crazy! By the way, the episode I was thinking about was the one with the flashbacks. Thnanks again.
