What do you celebrate Gem?

Saint David is the patron Saint of Wales. We celebrate this day on March 1st. In primary schools, the children go to school dressed as Welsh ladies or coal miners for the boys. We also have competitions called Eisteddfod's. They're like a tradition. I have some kids entering this year, they're reading a poem. And as I have a form class in school I thought it would be nice to bake some Welsh cakes to take in for them in registration, as it's a special day. Ain't they lucky to have me?! ;)

Welsh cakes are a bit like scones, but they're flatter. It's just flour, marg, sugar, eggs and currents. They're sometimes called bakestones because they are baked on a bakestone on the hob.

I also have a presentation tomorrow! I'm going to talk about the history of movies and at the end of it I will show a little part of Once Upon a Time in the West. (for the ones who saw that movie, I'm going to show the part with the cowboy who is irritated by the fly, which takes about 3 minutes) The presentation has to be about 10 minutes long. Wish me luck :D I need it.

I use adobe photoshop for all my graphics. I just learnt how to do it by messing around with the different tools really. The ones I use the most are the use of different layers (so that you can use more than one picture and set them to different opacities), handtinting, and the some of the filters that photoshop has so that you can distort and alter the images.

I'm sure there are lots of online tutorials, but I found that it was easier to just have a go myself.

My excuse for being awake this late/early (3.15 in the middle of the night):

I went out with some friends but it was reeeaaaly boring (unfortunately only 2 of 6 peeps thought that way) so after staying there for 2,5 hours we went back home. There was one boy over there who (they say he was 18 but he acted a lot younger) kept putting his hand between my legs (at knee-level ;) ), and I kept pushing his hand away. It was really anoying! I think I hate men LOL (Maddie her line ;) ) Well, anyways, I missed my other friends I always hang out with. They stayed in the disco of our own town, we had to drive 30 minutes for it... :rolleyes:

I have the one with Cybill holding the rose to her chin up now. I just love it. The look on her face is priceless. As I recall, the look on Bruce's was just as good, but his shoulders/back of his head will have to do for now. That scene just makes me melt - it's interesting to me that 18 years later, I love that scene just as much now as I did then.

Another great one Gem. I'm actually still using the Symphony in Knocked Flat one you did a while back. My nephew, who's 5, wanted to use my computer to play games on day while visiting. He doesn't know what ML is but when he saw the wallpaper of David giving Maddie the rose he said "awww that's so sweet." It was just too cute:D

Glad you liked that one Ryangie. To be honest, I wasn't too pleased with that one, I don't know why. I can't put my finger on it - I think maybe it's a bit too busy. I need to remember to keed it simple. So I needed to get back on the case with a new one. You know what they say - you're only as good as your last creation. Or something along those lines. Great one Jennifer! Those are great pics, I like the way you've used the set and I like the use of the lens flare effect. I really like the font too. What's it called? Where do you get your fonts from? I get mine from www.fontgarden.com. I have lots from there, but I find my main problem now is that I have so many I can never be bothered to go through them all to pick one!

I have hundreds of fonts that I got from two different places:

- Download Fonts - 1001 Free Fonts (http://www.1001freefonts.com/index2.html)
- High Fonts - Download 3000 Free Fonts! (http://www.highfonts.com/freealpha.asp?bok=S&f=0)

The font I used for this one was hominis; I tend to spend the most time on a graphic sometime just looking for the right font to use. I actually didn't make the lens flare effect (although I use it); the background texture happens to be a dark, dark grey with lens flares on it.

ETA: A new wallpaper. It's a tad similar, I can't help it, I love collage types and that Annie Leibovitz shoot is probably my favorite they did.

Love Gem

This wp is much simpler than my other ones (but probably took longer because of all of the different textures I used, LOL!). Just one pic, but I love it and it was crisp enough that I could enlarge it to desktop size without degrading it too much. Anyhoo, here it is:

I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but you are correct. That is exactly what they look like. Like they are sharing a big secret

How did you do the background? How are you getting on with those brushes?

the background isn't a brush :p
I threw some colours together and gave it a twirl and a zigzag and then I went to Filter - Distort - Wave and played around with that option.

I never seem to get the same background tho...

I am having trouble viewing the last two pics. They both appear full of little squares.

Cool, love that CSI one. Speaking of CSI, a friend told me that there was a recent episode the had Kiki and Julie from the OC in it. Have you seen that one?

Although I love the two new ones, and after having the newest one up for a day, I had to go back to the one from I Am Curious...

When he grabs/holds her arm and pulls her into him, I think that is one of the sexiest moments on TV or in the movies that I have ever seen.

Two more weeks and I can freeze frame on EVERYTHING from season 3.

Kis! If they got any closer than on those pics from the wallpaper, they would have stand behind eachother! (or with their backs against eachother. Don't know how to put it) Now that's what I call HOT!

He Steph, sorry, didn't see this post til just now. Do you mean the small pictures at the bottom that I took from that one you sent? I hardly did anything to them - just the usual auto levels stuff. The picture that Sakura sent in was huge so when I zoomed in and cut them out they were already really good quality. Wish I could take the credit!

Do you mean that you want to move the ivons on your desktop? You should be able to do that by clicking and draging them to whereever you want.

I just watched I am Curious as I have this week off school and it happened to be the episode ABC1 are showing. Love it! To be honest, Steph is the one to get on the case for icons, that's really her area and I'm not very good at them. If Steph is too busy I'd be happy to have a go.

Iv`e just watched it too and once again the end scene was edited .Instead of hearing David call Maddie a bitch and Maddie calling David a bas*** it cut straight to Maddie telling David to "GET OUT" and then it cut out the two first slaps and went straight to where David grabs her arm on the attempted third slap! and it completely ruined the build up to that ever so intense kiss! Everytime ABC1 do that, WHY!Although it doesn`treally matter now that iv`e got the dvds but its still annoying.

That´s so cute that you think I use a program! ;)
Just kidding.. I use whatever on this computer, I´ll check.. Hmm. Microsoft Office Picture Manager to change the pictures, and Paint to cut and put them together. Doesn´t always go my way... It´s really irritating to have cute pictures not knowing how to put them together in a fashionable way.. :D

But I´ll be back when I get succesful!

I'll be awaiting more.:D
