Okay since CBS had already dropped the axe on the show, I think they should've altered the final scene of Lost in Space pt. 2.

For instance, when Steve and Laura kiss they cut right to them kissing at their wedding after they've exchanged vows with family and friends celebrating. Jo Marie Payton returns as the real Harriet as well as Mother Winslow, Rachel,Richie and other familier characters. And we finally get to see Steve's parents in a brief cameo.

Laura and Steve ride off with the Family Matters closing theme playing and of course the final credits.

There really can't be a discussion about what should have been the right type of Finale because CBS never informed the cast/crew/writers that they were done with the show. Therefore, it was no such thing as a finale. All cast members were going to return for another season but knew that was impossible when the Family Matters Set was destroyed letting everyone know the show was over.
