After watching episode, "Edith's Winning Ticket" she lived up to the name. She purchased the ticket for Louise OUT OF HER OWN POCKET and felt she wasn't entitled to anything after the Jeffersons won. I know if that was me, I would have demanded half, especially if I purchased it from the pocket. They wouldn't have won if she hadn't made it happen, therefore she should have been entitled to something.

After finally seeing the UNCUT version of "Edith's Winning Ticket" Edith didn't look as dumb as she did when I only saw the TV LAND version. In the Tag scene on the UNCUT version, Louise actually buys Edith Something out of the winnings. TV LAND doesn't show that part which was why Edith looked so dumb. Plus I was saying Damm Louise could have bought her somethng out of the money since they were friends-LOL But I was wrong Louise did buy her something. Can't remember what it was

This might get some disagreement, but Edith wanting to give the ticket and therefore all the winnings to the Jeffersons, and then Mike and Gloria joining in and all saying the winning money all belonged to the Jeffersons, is one of several examples of their thinking they have to go beyond what they would normally consider "fair" because the Jeffersons are black. They would be afraid of not being seen as 'pro-black' or 'pro-minority' if they didn't. With Edith, it may be only her hyper-kindheartedness, but definitely with Mike and probably with Gloria, I think that is the case. Consider that when the J's first move in Archie has that ticket to a Mets' game, and they all gang up and say "They [the J's] wouldn't understand" if he didn't stay to have the dinner to which Edith had invited them without Archie's knowledge. And in "The Game" Lionel J. confirms that he thinks Mike "bends over backwards" for him as "a representative of the entire black race."

Had she bought the ticket as a favor for Barney and Blanche, Edith may still have wanted to give it to them when it was found to be a winner, but I don't think Mike and Gloria would have been so concerned as about the Jeffersons.

I would have to agree. That's evident in several eps. I was actually mad at that ep when Edith made Archie miss the Game. I just thought it was dumb to give up a ticket that was paid for to have dinner with someone when they could have just postponed the dinner.

I don't know. Henry seemed like he let Archie get under his skin and lost his temper. Therefore, he stooped lower than Archie did. George always had a comeback for Archie by his actions as well as his words. Rememeber Lionel's engagement party? George sarcastically asked Archie how many servants he got in his "mansion" LOL I was rollin'!

When the Jeffersons gave a gift certificate from half the lottery winnings, they got back at Archie by making the certificate for a woman's clothing store.
