Currently the producers of Red Dwarf are working on Red Dwarf The Movie which after many false starts may finally go into production this year. They have always said that after the movie is done they would consider making more TV episodes of Red Dwarf.

Is the movie something that would be released in the US on the big screen? I know that RD has had a lot of crossover success in the states, but I wonder if anyone would go to the theatre to see it...well, anyone besides me.

Another movie based on a British TV show (Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy) is currently playing in North American thearters so why not Red Dwarf? Based on having been shown on many PBS stations, Red Dwarf already has a built in audience in North America. Also the huge number of movie screens in N.A. would give the producers reason to release the film here foe economic reasons alone. So I think its a pretty safe bet Red Dwarf The Movie will be coming "to a theater near you"

I hope it does. I don't think I could wait for a DVD release or for PBS to show it in 10 years.

Red Dwarf dvd's have been out for a long long time... all seasons have been released... worth the investment!Actually they are still being released. Series VII & VIII will be released in the States early 2006. After that all series will be available for purchase.

I own all the current ones and can give them a fan's highest endorsement. The producers have seen fit to include everything they could find to justify the price. Buy them today!

I have all the released seasons (1-6) on DVD, and will be purchasing the rest.

This series has had me hooked ever since watching on pbs many years ago. I am not sure how many U.S. viewers know or like it, but hopefully there is enough "want" to get the movie released here.

I'm from the US and I would go see it in the theaters, as long as it was fairly close to the original series in characters and content.

I have a question about the Red Dwarf DVD's. All of the other DVDs were released two series at a time. So I was expecting to order both 7 and 8 on Amazon as a set, but they only have series 7. Does anyone know why they don't seem to be releasing both series together?

Will Craig Charles' recent arrest hurt the filming of the movie?
