Hola!
Ever notice that no one in Mayberry except Otis the town drunk was married? Barney has Thelma Lou who was a sweet piece of womanhood, yet he still screwed around with Juanita at the diner on occasion.
Andy ended up dating and marrying an angry woman Helen Crump. No one in the town liked this woman, save Andy and Opie, and in a color episode, they tried to run her out of town for dating a gangster in Kansas City! Andy's first girlfriend Elle was a total babe. Also, why was Andy put off by the "Fun Girls"? Couldn't help but get laid from those two. Then again, wild living, whiskey drinking and outside of marriage sex is not the thing in Mayberry either.
Earnest T. Bass was a wild man on crystal meth. Went to a dance social at Miss Wiley, an old patrician woman, unmarried, who hosted a party of single, unmarried, virginal 20 something women. He finds a woman as insane as him, and they trot back to the mountains to do their thing. Ernest T. Bass married that woman, had 12 children, and E.T. still howls at the morning sun in the nude.
Floyd, 65 year old man who was single with no children. Weak voice. I believe that in the episode where the "woman from out of town" comes and Andy pretends to be Floyd's son was just an elaborate ruse to admit he was gay. But he was in the closet about this, but he did sneak off to Raleigh once to catch a Judy Garland show. He also thought the Beatles had cute hair.
Howard Sprague was the other gay guy in town.
Why was this whole town single? When did show a married couple, they were usually always angry with each other. Hasn't this seemed strange to you?
