Breakup Songs are ruling the pop world right now. So what's your favorite one out of these four?

check out a Chicago Greatest Hits cd sometime.... their breakup songs are probably the greatest (If You Leave Me Now, Hard To Say I'm Sorry, Hard Habit To Break, Look Away, etc...). Those songs have so much more power than anything on the list. I like the GD song but I wouldn't consider it a depressing ballad to play through a breakup.

Another one that comes to mind is "Nothing Compares 2 U", be it by Sinead O' Connor, Prince or The Family. A real powerful breakup song.

Chicago did have quite a few great break up songs. My favorite being "If You Leave Me Now". There is a great deal of emotion in this song, you really get the feeling that Peter Cetera had just broken up with someone. I also think that "Nothing Compares 2 U" is a great break up song.

Boulevard of Broken Dreams is about breaking up with someone? I missed that.

This isn't my pick for best break up song, I'm just posting the lyrics because I'm curious how this relates to breaking up. I agree with those who said "Nothing Compares 2 U."

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
and I'm the only one and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone

I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line
Of the edge and where I walk alone

Read between the lines
What's phucked up and everything's alright
Check my vital signs
To know I'm still alive and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone

another one that comes to mind, after reading that her father passed away :( is "I Can't Make You Love Me" by Bonnie Raitt.

I thought the song was boring as hell when I was a kid, but then it came on the radio a day after I was dumped a few years ago and suddenly I just adored every word about the song because it was EXACTLY what I was feeling at the moment. I think everyone who has gotten dumped can identify with the song at one point.
