Didn't these two work together on Roots? After watching James being referred to around the Carl character, I was just wondering if the two worked with one another. It has been a long time since I saw Roots.

Moses Gunn is in Roots, he's listed in the cast list on the back of the dvd box. I'm thinking maybe he played an African character and didn't have any scenes with John Amos, who of course was Kunta Kinte as an adult in America. I'll skim through some scenes to see if they worked together.

Moses Gunn played a character on Roots that prepared the teenaged African boys to become men. Unlike on Good Times, he was before John Amos. They didn't have any scenes together. One person who did have a scene with John is Helen Martin (Wanda).

I based this thread on episode, "My Son, th Father." J.J. wanted to be Michael's "father" for a dinner, and James was mentioned in the presence of Carl. Thanks for the info. Like I said, I haven't seen Roots in a while.
