It's not that he can't sing- he has a very pleasant singing style actually, but I find that for the most part the songs he writes for himself are nowhere near as interesting as his interpretations of other people's tunes. His writing is very cliched to me. I remember hearing him do a version of Moody's Mood a few years back and being surprised that it was him. His interpretations of stuff like Love Is, When We Were Kings, Crazy Love and some of his jazz covers run circles around his own compositions.

I'm surprised George Howard's people didn't sue Brian McKnight.

I like him and his singing. He keeps it real and is consistant with his material. My cousin met him in person and thought he was arrogant. So his recent divorce isn't a surprise. :)
