I caught Munster Go Home on AMC last night.
It answers whatever questions, I suppose, we have about exactly what skin color each family member is.
Herman was consistently pistashio green all throughout the movie. But with Lily, Grandpa and Eddie, it varied. Mostly they were blue/white/grey. But at times, they were as green as Herman.

The color of their faces depends on 3 things...

1. How well of a copy are they using to broadcast the movie.
2. How dark or how light a scene is.
3. It also depends if they switched makeup from time to time during the production of the movie.

(The above 3 answers are just my opinions, not facts.)

The print they showed on AMC was the highest quality. It could of been the DVD.

Which one, Universal, or Good Times?

I've never seen either. I was tempted to get the Munster Go Home DVD off Ebay, but the AMC telecast that I put on videotape will do.

I bought the Good Times DVD version of "Munster, Go Home!" and "The Munsters' Revenge".

MGH was a little too dark, like they used a very old copy to remaster.
TMR had a lot of cracks and snowflakes in it, but was watchable.

Some time ago, I bought "Here Come the Munsters" and "The Munsters' Scary Little Christmas" off of ebay. Both looked TV recorded and were very grainy.

I was impressed by the quality of the print on
AMC too. Looked great, but just shows how this
was one show that had to be in b&w to work. To hear a character described as being green is
funny, but to see it looks garish and silly. If the show was in color to begin with I don't think the reruns would have been anywhere near as
popular. And it's strange how the movie had
the same people behind it and yet didn't work
at all with no laugh track and much longer.At first when I saw the house at the beginning
I thought I was gonna enjoy the movie this
time when I never had before. But it still
doesn't work. I wonder what were the
circumstances of making the movie?
Hadn't the show just been canceled?

I think I must be one of the few people who really wishes there had been a third season in color and also thinks it would have worked fine without the B&W look. I think the striking, embellished look of Technicolor would have been a lot of fun. The third season of "Bewitched" is so colorful and beautiful to look at.

I'm another of those people who would like to see the series in color, hence the colorized photos thread I started.
Just perplexed how the Munster Go Home movie could have the same writers and director as the TV series but not match the calibre of the series.
The show in color would of worked if they had returned to some of the spookiness the characters had in the early episodes.

I don't know. It only seemed like the ratings went down after Batman came on the air. Starting January 13th, 1966, The Munsters and Batman went head to head in the Thursday 7:30 PM time slot.

In "The Munsters Lost Color episode" VHS released in the early 90's, they said that ratings dropped after "Zombo". Which means the last 10 episodes were barely watched Since Batman finished at #4 in the 65-66 season.

In other words, if Batman had never came on, we Munsters fans would have seen that Third Season in color!

I thought the color made them look garish too. I also thought I saw a scene where Lily's palm didn't have the green make up on it during one shot. Without a laugh track, the jokes just laid there. It was as if they were waiting for the laugh track to be dubbed in later. The timing was too slow.
