I hate to be a negative Nancy here but does it bother any of you other long-time viewers that the DVDs are showing edited versions of the original shows? I have a lot of the original NBC broadcasts recorded and in comparing them to the recently released DVDs I'm finding that many of the stories have 1 or 2 minutes of footage missing. For example, "Dakota's Double Death" completely cuts out the testimony of a witness who claimed to have seen Arnold Archambeau days after his disappearance. Most disturbing of all was that they cut out the one-on-one "update" interview between Robert Stack and prosecutor Richard Garrett in the "Boys on the Tracks" case in which it is revealed that their deaths were changed from "Probable Homicide" to "Definate Homicide". (For those who have never seen it, this interview completely made the story stand out in my mind. I LOVED the fact that Robert asked the questions himself and I wish UM had used this method more often!!!) There were plenty of other omissions I noticed that weren't as crucial to the story (footage of Cindy James in the psychiatric ward, the ghost of John Hardin materializing on the attic steps, etc.) Why do you suppose they chose to show the edited "Lifetime" footage rather than the original NBC footage? Does this bother any of you other faithful UM viewers or am I just being picky?

Maybe they edited the episodes so they could pack everything on the discs and not run out of space.

Just a thought.

Yeah, I was surprised that cut out certain scenes in a few segments, like Cindy James polygraph test which was originally longer.

Although they DID show the full segement of the "Mistake Hit," where Doug Johnston was shot in his car behind his left ear and was mistaken for journalist Don Deveroux who actually lived accross the street and drove the same model of car. Lifetime always shows us the part where we see through the killers eyes sneaking up behind the car in the dark putting the gun up to the drivers window but they always cut out the part where the gun is fired and Johnston slumps over the seat as well as a few more interviews.

yep, exactly what i was thinking

this would also explain the lack of features on the Murders dvd. the BM dvd has 373 minutes and no special features, while the UFO dvd (for example) had like 250 minutes and did have special features

they also cut off the opening of the Roswell/Area 51 story, i have it on tape somewhere, its the only UM epsiode I know of that didnt have the theme song and went straight to the segment

one thing I was hoping the DVDs would do is take the vocals of his intro's for the segments and cut/paste them over the theme song as if it were a real broadcast, but i guess it would be too hard :(
