Hate to bring this up but it's official, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has officially cancelled the 2004-2005 hockey season due to prolonged negotiations with the NHL Player's Association despite a collective bargaining agreement at the last minute which neither both sides gave an inch.

It's sad but I think it's good that it was cancelled. Most of the players in the NHL are playing elsewhere or even out of the country. It gives the players and owners more time now that there will be an offseason.

Unfortunately, the NHL might face a huge fan loss. The same thing happened when there was a strike in baseball from the summer of 1994 to early 1995 and cancelled the 1994 World Series.

I'm really bummed about it. I was raised on hockey, it's like a second religion at my house. Sunday's we go to church, and while we are they we pray for the Red Wings to have a great season. I guess we can't do that anymore. :(
