Nighthawk76 02-16-2005, 04:42 PM Whip It-Devo (they were technically a one hit wonder) Whip it, whip it good :whip dawsongirl 02-16-2005, 11:59 PM True- Spandau Ballet Shattered Dreams- Johnny Hates Jazz There isn't a band or artist who is a one hit wonder who I've listened to anything more than that one hit. ABlairican Pie 02-17-2005, 09:33 AM It's strange that when a person says One-Hit Wonder, everyone assumes that a band was only known for one song but no one recalls anything else they have done, which definitely not the case with either Devo or Spandau Ballet. Here's a one-hit wonder: Possum Kingdom--The Toadies. Nighthawk76 02-17-2005, 02:22 PM It's strange that when a person says One-Hit Wonder, everyone assumes that a band was only known for one song but no one recalls anything else they have done, which definitely not the case with either Devo or Spandau Ballet. Here's a one-hit wonder: Possum Kingdom--The Toadies. What I meant is that "Whip It" was Devo's only top 40 hit. I really like Devo and am well versed in thier music, but the average music fan would probably only know of "Whip it". Nighthawk76 02-17-2005, 02:23 PM Shattered Dreams- Johnny Hates Jazz That's a cool song. :) Dean Winchester 02-17-2005, 04:13 PM What I meant is that "Whip It" was Devo's only top 40 hit. I really like Devo and am well versed in thier music, but the average music fan would probably only know of "Whip it". that is true to an extent, but two other Devo songs I've encountered people being familiar with is their rendition of "Satisfaction", as well as "Beautiful World" thanks to a Target campaign a few years back. musicradio77 02-18-2005, 09:36 PM True- Spandau Ballet That song sampled these two songs "N Dey Say" by Nelly and "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss" by PM Dawn. Two different songs by different artists sampled the same thing. I like the songs made by a one hit wonder: 1. "MacArthur Park" - Richard Harris 2. "Dial My Heart" - The Boys 3. "Let's Get Together" - Hayley Mills 4. "Gloria" - Enchantment 5. "Purple People Eater" - Sheb Wooley Steve M. 02-23-2005, 06:06 PM Shattered Dreams- Johnny Hates Jazz Johnny Hates Jazz had another hit with "Turn Back the Clock." Both songs suck. In case you haven't noticed, Steve hates Johnny Hates Jazz. :p Steve M. 02-23-2005, 06:09 PM Whip It-Devo (they were technically a one hit wonder) Whip it, whip it good :whip My sister and I made fun of this song in Weird Al fashion. We would always sing, "When a pancake comes along, you must flip it!" Steve M. 03-09-2005, 11:39 PM Also, Carl Douglas with "Kung Fu Fighting," a so-bad-it's-good song that inspired a hot dance in 1974, the Kung Fu. DO THE KUNG FU! :D Belair 03-10-2005, 04:26 AM Cotton Eye Joe!! dandelion wine 03-11-2005, 12:56 AM Also, Carl Douglas with "Kung Fu Fighting," a so-bad-it's-good song that inspired a hot dance in 1974, the Kung Fu. DO THE KUNG FU! :D :yeahthat I  that song! LadyBee 03-11-2005, 05:16 PM "Don't Wanna Fall In Love" Jane Child "Float On " The Floaters MissZero 03-11-2005, 05:30 PM Bitch - Meredith Brooks (thats my theme song yall) *MIBabe03* 03-11-2005, 05:43 PM Bitch - Meredith Brooks (thats my theme song yall) OMG I love that song! Is it weird that I miss Ace of Base? allen 05-02-2005, 08:08 PM Most of my favorite songs are from these types of artists, although other posters are right in saying that most of them have at least one other hit, but that "hit" may not be as popular as their "signature hit." Take my fave Level 42 for example. If you don't count their UK success in the early '80s, this band had only two U.S. hits: "Lessons In Love," and "Something About You." However, if you played both these songs, the latter would be remembered more, although I think LIL may have charted higher on U.S. charts. Still, SAY is the one song out of the two that is occasionally played on adult contemporary radio, and on some VH1 shows like "My Coolest Years," and "I Love The 80's Strikes Back." Lee 05-03-2005, 12:55 AM Steve M.: Johnny Hates Jazz had another hit with "Turn Back the Clock." That one didn't hit the top 40 on Billboard. But they did have a second Billboard top 40 entry with "I Don't Want To Be A Hero" in August 1988. I don't know how PM Dawn got a greatest hits album. Maybe growing up in the hood, and making it big made them look larger than life? Zoneboy 01-11-2007, 05:25 AM Amdeus Falco,1983 Sorry, Falco wasn't a one hit wonder. He reached the top 20 of Billboard's singles charts with Vienna Calling. Zoneboy 01-11-2007, 05:27 AM True- Spandau Ballet Another act that is often mistaken for a one hit wonder, They hit the top 40 of Billboard's singles charts with 2 other songs: Gold & Only When You Leave. Zoneboy 01-11-2007, 05:42 AM They also had Apache. Other songs that come to mind: Bruce Hornsby- That's Just The Way It Is Night Ranger- Sister Christian Neither of these acts were one hit wonders, Bruce Hornsby had hits with Mandolin Rain, The Valley Road, Look Out Any Window, Across The River & Every Little Kiss Night Ranger's hits include: When You Close Your Eyes, Goodbye, Don't Tell Me You Love Me, Sentimental Street & Four in the Morning. Zoneboy 01-11-2007, 05:54 AM Here's a one hit wonder trivia question: There has been at least one group that had a one hit wonder with a cover song that was also a one hit wonder for the original artist. Name the song and the groups that recorded it. There could very well be more than one correct answer but the song I'm thinking of made the top 10 both times. vashti1999 01-11-2007, 11:20 AM Here's a one hit wonder trivia question: There has been at least one group that had a one hit wonder with a cover song that was also a one hit wonder for the original artist. Fleet 01-12-2007, 03:17 AM Try this one: :) What one hit wonder hit the top 40 twice with the same song? I don't know about hitting the top 40 twice with the same song, but Chubby Checker's "The Twist" hit #1 two times (1960 and 1962). Zoneboy 01-12-2007, 03:18 AM I don't know about hitting the top 40 twice with the same song, but Chubby Checker's "The Twist" hit #1 two times (1960 and 1962). However, they had another hit with "To The Aisle" in 1957. jpcanes 01-13-2007, 12:21 AM Try this one: :) What one hit wonder hit the top 40 twice with the same song?
