Kelsey Grammer, David Hyde Pierce and other cast members of the Emmy-nominated NBC comedy "Frasier" are scheduled to appear in a press conference today to request that ABC and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences not air any nonunion commercials during Sunday’s telecast of the 52nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, their request is expected to go unfulfilled because nearly all the advertising for the show has been sold, and many of the ads are believed to be nonunion ads shot during the ongoing strike.
The “Frasier” cast will wear gold ribbons to the Emmy telecast to show support for the actors unions’ strike against the advertising industry.
The press conference is scheduled to begin at 12:30 pm. outside Paramount Studios’ main gate.
