Did anyone else like the line that Jack used at the end? Chrissy's friend said "Isn't she priceless?" and Jack said "Yes, and she's going to stay that way." I thought the line was AWESOME! Janet was supposed to say the line, but Joyce didn't agree with it, so John said he would do it. I don't know why Joyce didn't like it. I thought it was great! Any other thoughts on this?

How do you know that Joyce didn't want to say that? How did you find that out?
That's weird.

I totally agree with you on that, # 1 John Ritter fan. That line was great. I was reading in "Come and knock on our door" that Joyce was supposed to say it as well, and I too don't understand why she didn't want to. I thought it was a great line.

I think that line had much more...umph when Jack says it than when I imagine Janet saying it. He really proved how much he cared about Chrissy. I think Joyce was right not to say the line, it works much better with John.

well, i wouldn't have said that line either. and John said that Joyce was justified in her feelings towards Suzanne so i don't imagine her being happy with that line.

It's in the "Come and Knock on our Door" book.

Yeah, I can understand coming from that point of view. I agree with alizadivine, I think it does sound better coming from Jack than it would coming from Janet.

She didn't want to say it because there was a lot of tension between them at that time. Though it doesn't seem like a huge deal, maybe there's more behind that even the book doesn't say.

i just think she didnt want to say it cuz it didnt sound like ne thing janet would say. it definitely sounds like a jack line. plus joyce was right, she said that she had already said some mean comments to her earlier. so it just makes sense to stop there and let someone else do it.

Hey,

I'm kinda confused...I've never seen this episode and I don't have the book...I've been reading your threads and trying to figure out what's going on but I can't  Why was this line so terrible for Joyce to say?

Hey,

I'm kinda confused...I've never seen this episode and I don't have the book...I've been reading your threads and trying to figure out what's going on but I can't  Why was this line so terrible for Joyce to say? :confused:I have no clue. though i do have the book and ive seen the episode, i dont know why it was hard for Joyce to say that line. that was Suzanne's very last episode and she, the cast, and crew knew that she was leaving because of money problems.

In the book, its says:An anticallgirl line at the end of "A Hundred Dollars A What?" pleased the censors. The line, given to Janet, did not please Joyce DeWitt because it was inconsistent with her character's dialogue and behavior in an earlier scene in the episode. In that scene, Janet hears Chrissy's friend discussing her profession on the phone, and the two women discuss the matter. Janet "did not in any way talk down to her or judge her in that scene", Joyce says. At the end of the show, the friend calls Chrissy "Priceless". Jack responds, "And she's going to stay that way." That line was supposed to be Janet's but Joyce told Micheal Ross she didn't want to say it based on the earlier scene. "Janet wouldn't say that at this point," DeWitt says. "She objected on the day of rehearsal, and John offered to take the line. But the script remained unchanged come showtime Friday, Oct. 31.

Sorry I left out the word 'first' in the sentence, "She objected on the first day of rehearsal..." my backspace isnt working!!

But I'm still kinda confused too. I guess Joyce knows Janet better than anybody and she knew what was right. And I look up to Joyce that she fought for what was right! :D

this whole episode was very interesting for me to watch, not because of the plot, but just because of what was going on behind the scenes. the energy did seem a tad different during the show, and i remember reading about joyce not wanting to say that line, because it wasnt in character or something.

I've heard that during the production of that episode, John nor Joyce were speaking to Susanne during the episode. It must have been really hard to John to do that episode with her. But I've heard in the past that he never let anything interrup him while he worked. It's hard to believe that this man never had a bad side. I'm sure just like anyone else, he had his good days and bad days.
