View Full Version : They put Punky B. on DVD and left out the Greatest sitcom that aired 30min before
Dereeeeek 02-14-2005, 04:25 AM Not to make any Punky brewster fans angry but give me a break. Punky brewster came on right after silver spoons and they havent even put in a second thought on releasing one of the greatest shows of all time yet they released punky B on DVD. I mean sure, some of the younger generations do not know who Joel Higgens "Edward Stratton" is. But they wont until they get that darn dvd out there and show how great his talent is. But there are known names such as Rick Schroder, Erin Grey and Jason Bateman fans out there right now that has never seen the silver spoons shows and would be willing to pay 30bucks per season. But alas.....Facts of life has aired on tv land or nick at night....one of those TV stations and its probably next pick to hit DVD before spoons will. Lets just hope something comes of it. at least the first season and if it does not sell then they can drop the other 4 seasons, "which I very much hope they wont".
jarri 02-14-2005, 12:00 PM Well, what can I say? We'll be waiting until the cows come home. MOOOOOOVVVE over and join the club of pissed off fans. We can talk about it and talk some more. Maybe it will happen maybe it won't. Send a message to Judith Moose. She might be able to tell you something.
videotrading 02-16-2005, 08:22 AM I am sorry, but I really hate it when people ask 'why is this show being released, but (the one *I* want) isn't?' come on, is that really fair? Punky and SS had a lot of the same fans and I don't think any of them appreciate you coming on here putting the other show down just because SS won't be released any time soon... There is really nothing the fans of the other shows can do.
I just don't get how someone can get upset about a completely different show because something they want isn't being released. It makes absolutely no sense to me. And it isn't fair to those other fans..

Well obviously it bothers you that it hasnt came out, if you are looking"on a SILVER SPOONS SITE" . First of all, I was never a fan of the Punky Brewster show although I am glad it is out there for the fans who enjoyed it BUT I believe if they are going to put a sitcom from the same generation, they should concider the fact that Silver Spoons should be released. Look at it this way....MOST of the shows they are releasing on TV box sets have been shown on TV land or Nick at Night a few months prior to being on box set, Such as "Soap" "threes Company" "Charlies Angels" and so on but punky brewster was one of those havent been aired in years so why not do Silver Spoons the same way. Bottom line is that most people have already probably made a recording of the box sets already that was on nick at night prior to release on box set. What we need are things that were LOST. I mean I like little house on the prairie and it has aired the entire 9 seasons on the halmark channel. that saved me over 200 bucks buying it on box sets but If Sony isnt going to air Silver Spoons on Tv ever or not planning on it then why not give fans the satisfaction of having it?
TennX 02-18-2005, 10:19 AM I'm usually a lurker on these boards, but I just felt the need to say something in regards of this topic.
If you read sites like tvshowsondvd.com you notice that every single day they receive word on what TV show is coming out. Granted, they have yet to announce a Silver Spoons dvd, BUT TV shows on dvd are a hot thing right now in the DVD market. I used to work at a video store, and our TV show section use to be the smallest section of the store, now it's the biggest (i was just there to pick up Night Court) and it's getting bigger every month. If Silver Spoons doesn't come out sometime this year, I bet it will next.
And as for why something like Punky Brewster is out, well, I think instead of being upset, you should be happy that's out. I know your not a fan of that show, but if Punky can be released, then there is hope for other shows as well. 3 years ago, I would've bet Silver Spoons would be released before Punky. Keep in mind, I love Punky Brewster (in fact, when i was getting that Night Court DVD, I was getting Punky as well) , but I just didn't think it'd ever get released.

My message wasn't about SS getting put out on DVD.. I want that to happen, the show was great. But like a said, I just don't see why comparing it to another show has anything to do with the release of it. I would completely understand if the subject for this thread read "Help get Silver Spoons on DVD....." But instead it read "They put Punky B. on DVD and left the greatest......" Isn't that a bit dumb to say when this isn't even a Punky board? I would love Silver Spoons to be released, but I think this thread should say what we could do to get that to happen instead of complaining about somthing that makes no sense at all.. If you aren't a fan of the other show, don't mention it. You mentioned another show, Little House, don't even get me started on that.. Let's just keep the subject on Silver Spoons.
That's all I meant.
Dereeeeek 02-23-2005, 04:25 AM For TENNX,
I totally agree with you. I am very glad punky came out. Made me a believer that they are not being stingy about shows that havent aired in years, one being "too close for comfort" and another " land of the lost". "I know they arent Sony releases" .those were also some of my favorites but If I am not mistaken and dont quote me on this but I think Sony Studios is a bigger company than Rhino, but I am not sure about that and sony can put out the bucks on the first series of spoons release to see what comes of it. . I Dont work at sony studios nor do I know when anything is released until I search for it on the net, I just give statements hoping one day someone that works for sony might come to this site because for one we have Judith Moose on our side and I am sure shes let them in on this page. Lets just keep our fingers crossed, and again being punky brewster was released, that might be a sign that Silver Spoons will be next. I have them all on tape, I dont really need them on dvd but it would be nice. My argument is, Let those who really want to see them who doesnt or never had the chance to see it get to.
robby76 02-23-2005, 11:42 AM Like I say... you cannot flood the tvshow on dvd market... no-one makes money that way. If companies stagger their releases, people have time to save their money and buy it. If everything gets released all at once people will be VERY CHOOSEY in what they buy and therefore sales will not be good - both long term and short.
e.g. every season of Facts of Life gets released all at once on the same day... people are just gonna pick their best season... whereas if you release them in 6 months intervals the general dvd buyer will probably end up (without knowing) getting every season.
ps: Punky kicks @$$
Dereeeeek 02-25-2005, 01:21 AM You are right except, Facts of life has been aired on TV in the past two years or it might have been three. I havent seen silver spoons on TV since the 80's special aired where they only put 8 episodes on. last ive seen a rerun since the first episode aired back in 82 was sometime back in the mid 80s. Least people got to see or at least tape the facts of life. another show that surprised me that aired on tv not to long ago was the carol burnett show which is another favorite of mine. I am happy the way the things are going with the old tv shows because they are continuisly working on releasing everything. lets just hope sony gives tv land or nick at nite the rights for Silver Spoons to see how the ratings go to get them on the box sets. Oh and as far as seasons for the box sets go....if you are going to release one season you should at least put them all out. I agree with them not being released at one time but I dont think they should put fans on hold. I have both sets of the Jeffersons and WAITED and WAITED and NOW they finally are releasing the next season in a couple of months. I think they would know in a months time how sales are doing and release the series once every 3 months if not earlier.
Judith A. Moose 03-09-2005, 10:53 PM Things are moving right along on my end and please don't worry, it won't be much longer...
