View Full Version : Remakes or no remakes (Footloose)
Jason_Voorhees13... 02-14-2005, 04:13 AM Talking about 1980's movie remakes like The Dukes Of Hazzards, which I think they shoul'nt have put Jessica Simpson as Dasiy, but .........The AMC network said the (there play the DVD verson of Footloose) sayingthat the dance movies our pupular again and there doing "Footloose" remake this time it will be kind of like The Nicole Kidman movie when she dances and sings. Should be intreresting. But I hope they willnot do remakes of the great movie Greaee,Saturday Night Fever,Purple Rain,Sixteen Candles or even Boogie Nights. Just leave them be,WWW.AMCTV.COM for more info.
webuster 02-14-2005, 07:34 AM The Footloose remake was mentioned in 2002- there was talk of miramax doing a straight musical version- apparently not adapting 'Footloose the Musical' but having another musical version written just for the screen. I don't know if it's happening though. I've noticed the popularity of dance films too- especially hip-hop sort of films. It's only a matter of time before there's a boom of remakes or new dance films. I don't think anyone would dare remake Grease or Saturday Night Fever because even young people today like those films.
Cactus Jack 02-14-2005, 09:17 AM No remake of Footloose shoukd ever be done what so ever
snl75 02-17-2005, 11:33 PM No remake of Footloose shoukd ever be done what so everi agree .leave a good movie like footloose to stand on its own
dandelion wine 02-18-2005, 03:12 AM No remake!! Please just leave this movie alone. Seriously, they're going to redo every friggin' movie they can possibly get their money-loving hands on, and it's just not necessary. Footloose does not need to be touched.
Skywalker 02-18-2005, 03:19 AM No remake. A remake of Footloose would never compare to the original. It would be an insult to remake this movie. It would be a big waste of time and money too.
Mr. Television 02-18-2005, 03:32 AM This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Footloose is a classic and shouldn't be remade. Of course with Hollywood nothing is sacred. Remember that Psycho remake they did a few years ago?
Cactus Jack 02-18-2005, 08:44 AM Im agree with everyone on this
But wold you see it if they did one and I was in it?
Dean Winchester 02-18-2005, 06:10 PM I hope not.
I hate that most of the "dance films" of late have been hip-hop oriented. Yes, hip hop is popular... but is it dance music? Hell no!

That would be something to see.
Brian 02-18-2005, 09:05 PM If I were in the film industry, I wouldn't remake any classic movies at any price. I would make two TV series into movies. They are Irwin Allen's The Time Tunnel and Land of the Giants. But I would never remake movies like The French Connection and other great classics.
I heard that they are remaking the 1977 George Burns film "Oh, God!" And guess who is playing the title character: Ellen Degeneres.
Hollow 02-18-2005, 11:55 PM i think there should be a remake of the wizard of oz because it would be hilarious and piss everyone off. also the next muppets movie should be a remake of metallica's documentary. they're outstanding at acting out other stories and making them look really stupid.

oh my god hahahaah that would be awesome
webuster 02-19-2005, 06:09 AM A Muppet version of the Wizard of Oz is being made now. I don't know if songs from the Judy Garland film are being used (it'd be hilarious maybe to see a spoof of Somewhere over the rainbow) but all in all I hope they don't try to redo that version. I can never explain it, but for some reason the original is as close to a perfect movie as I have seen. There's no logic to it- I mean, there's the corny ending (you had the power all along etc), some bad effects etc, but it is still a fantastic movie.
I'm not an absolute purist- I think it'd be a good if a faithful adaptation of the book were to be done, but to remake the Judy Garland film, it would just pale in comparison- nobody could sing those songs the way she did, and a lot of that intangible magic would be gone.
