20 years ago today, Nicholas Colasanto passed away.

Rest in peace, Coach, you were the best.

Seeing that Nicolas Colasanto died 20 years ago today, I thought it would be appropriate to make a thread in honor of the character he portrayed on Cheers; Coach.

(after Diane sprayed Sam with water in the pants) Coach: Did you have an accident Sam, or are you just excited to see me? *laughs hysterically*

Bah, is there anyway we could get my thread erased?

Maybe they could merge the two threads.

There was never anyone like Coach. Woody was funny, but he never came close to Coach. RIP Coach.

Has it really been 20 years? That is just so weird and unreal.

My favorite Coach quote....

Carla: Are you crazy Coach??

Coach: Crazy Carla?? Crazy like a doorknob.

Coach would be proud, both the Red Sox and the Patriots won their championships this year.

I'm still pissed that Cheers did NOTHING to commemorate Colasanto's death. The character of Ernie Pantuso was great. Cheers best years were the ones that starred the "Coach."

I know. I feel that there should have been some kind of episode that dealt with the Coach's death instead of just a couple side comments. The way that the entire situation was dealt with was quite disrespectful to Nicolas Colasanto.

And not to mention they went a LONG time without explanation of his passing. "Cheerio, Cheers" aired on April 11, 1985 and the 4th season didn't start until September 26, 1985 - more than seven months after his passing, five since "Cheerio, Cheers" aired. I know it was announced when he passed away...but STILL. They didn't even do a thing at the end of the 3rd season to remember him, either! It was the 59th episode they produced...They did 10 more after that...NOTHING.

I agree that Nicholas got ripped off big-time there. No tribute, nothing. He did so much, too. He directed a lot of wonderful programs. :(

What I don't understand is that he didn't even get an episode dedicated to his memory.

Nothing against Al.... but even Al Rosen got one, so it's not as if they were against doing it.
