Is anyone familiar with a relatively recent case (around 1996) that used to air pretty frequently on Lifetime about a USC film student named Patrick who went down to Tijuana without telling his mother?

Several days later he was trying to cross the busy street (Avenida Internacional) that runs between Tijuana and the U.S. at night and was hit by traffic. It was later thought by some that he was trying to get away from abductors in Mexico. He was badly injured and in a coma when they published his hospital bed picture in the local paper and that's when his mother found out where he had been for those several days.

During the time he was missing there was activity on his ATM card at a bank in Tijuana and his car was seemingly parked in a lot in the U.S. by a stranger (they knew this because the radio was tuned to a Spanish station and there were cigarette butts on the floorboard). The guy died and his mother was having a difficult time dealing with Mexican authorities in the investigation.

Is this the same one that they believe the police tried to cover up? If so... it was on Lifetime this past week(Wednesday or Thursday I believe).

I am familiar with the case. The victim's full name was Patrick Sean Kelly. He is listed at the Parents Against Corruption and Cover-up web site.

Ironically, the people who started the organization are the parents of Tommy Burkett, another case profiled on UM.
