why did randall carver leave taxi nobody seems to know why

This is according to the "Taxi" book I own, which had interviews with that cast and crew of the show.

The producers felt the John character just wasn't working out. They gave him the marriage storyline, thinking it would help his character. But they didn't like those plots. It came to the point where they didn't know what to do to him. They had trouble deciding who would get which lines between Bobby, Tony and John. Also, when Christopher Lloyd guest starred in season one, the producers decided to have him come back as a cast member. So they got rid of John to make room for Jim.

As for the character, he was just there one episode and gone the next. He was never mentioned. His last episode was Memories of Cab 804. Maybe he got fired for wrecking the cab. Or he just quit.

I wonder what ever happened to Randall Carver. I never heard of him again.

That's what I always thought. :lol: It makes alot of sense, there were times during the first season where he almost got fired for not bringing in enough money.
