Has anyone seen Sideways? I saw it today, and I haven't loved a movie this much in a long time. Paul Giamatti delivered a fantastic performance, and it's a shame he didn't receive an Oscar nomination. I personally think that Thomas Haden Church stole the show, and I'm thrilled he did get an Oscar nod for Best Supporting Actor. If the name doesn't ring a bell, he played Lowell on the sitcom Wings.

The movie is thoughtful, funny, sad and just great. I highly recommend this movie, and I've seen just about all of them.

Sideways got an unheard of 96% on rottentomatoes.com.

I am probably the only person in New York City who hasn't seen this film.
I'd invite a certain someone to go with me, but we know how that's going Janice...

I want to see Sideways but I'm not much of a fan of going to the movies, so I usually wait until it comes out on DVD. I am a fan of Thomas Haden Church(I love him in Wings) and am absolutely thrilled he was nominated for an Oscar. Even if he doesn't win, he would always be known as Academy Award nominee, Thomas Haden Church. But of course, I want him to win!!

I hear only good things about it but I'll probably wait until it comes to tv.

I liked this movie better than I thought I would. It was especially enjoyable for me because I am familiar with the area in the Santa Ynez Valley near Santa Barbara where it was filmed and takes place. I even found the hotel and the Hitchhiker's Post restaurant where Maya works a few weeks after seeing this. Although this was highly original and was a good mixture of comedy and drama, I still don't think it deserves to win Best Picture and Giamatti was not as good as Eastwood in Million Dollar Baby, so I'm not so sure that he got "robbed" by the academy.

I don't think Paul Giamatti was robbed either. I just think it's too bad he wasn't nominated. So many great performances, too little nomination slots I guess.
