Prince Charles to marry Camilla Parker Bowles
Reports say longtime partners' wedding will be held April 8

The Prince of Wales and Parker Bowles will marry on Friday, April 8, at Windsor Castle, Clarence House said. Camilla will use the title Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall after the marriage, it said.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether Camilla would become queen if Charles succeeds to the throne. A spokeswoman for the Department of Constitutional Affairs couldn’t comment and no one was immediately available at Clarence House’s press office.

Charles, 56, divorced from Diana in 1996, a year before she was killed in a Paris car crash. Camilla, 57, obtained her divorce from army officer Andrew Parker Bowles in 1995.

A spokeswoman for Prime Minister Tony Blair’s office had no immediate comment on the announcement.

I've always followed his life (ever since I was a kid) and I never really thought he would take the plunge. Now I will forever side with Diana... :(

He should have married her in the first place about 25 years ago. He married Diana under false pretense as he didn't love her and never ended it with Camilla. He was under pressure to produce heirs to the throne.

Eh... why not? As was said earlier, they should have married years ago, long before Diana came into the picture. They seem to love one another and are happy together.

Chuck had to marry Di (or someone like her) because he needed to marry a virgin. Had to make sure the heir was really his, after all. :lol: And she had to be a bit of a blue-blood aristocrat as well. In fact, Diana is more "royal" than is Charles. She had more ties (though quite distant) to more of the British royal family branches than does Charles. William and Harry, therefore, are probably the most "royal" royals since William the Conquerer. What Diana didn't have in family ties, Charles did.
