(got this from the LnC boards)

Quickly becoming recognized as America's most well known suburban street, this aerial view shows Wisteria Lane, the setting for the hit television show "Desperate Housewives." The quiet street is actually atop a hill on a backlot at the world famous Universal Studios in Hollywood,Ca. Pictured is the home of character Susan Mayer played by Teri Hatcher.

Pictured is the home of "The Munsters" in the 60's sitcom which producers try to keep out of shot as it is easily recognized.

I think that when I last went to L.A. in 1999, they gave us a tour of this street at the Universal backlot. I wonder if they still show it now, lol?

Oprah bought the Munster house in that spoof, lol.

I heard one of these houses is also The Cleavers from Leave it to Beaver.

It is not the original Leave it to Beaver house, but one they rebuilt for the 1997 theatrical movie.

Thanks TJ I wasn't aware of that, they said on Access Hollywood a couple weeks ago, that Bree's house was the one used in the original series, I guess they didn't do their homework

I really like those pictures, Thanks for sharing them. Those houses don't look too shabby huh?

I did hear the same thing that Bree's house was the original Beaver Cleaver house. I heard it on Oprah. Oh well.......... It looks good.

Actually, Mary Alice's House is the one in the above pictures that is the "Leave it to Beaver" house. And as TJ pointed out, it is not the one from the original TV series- it was built for the 1997 theatrical movie. Its quite different from the house in the original series, but has similar features (3 dormer windows, etc.)

Very nice pictures by the way! I have been dying to see some comprehensive pics of Colonial Street since the DH re-dress!

How cool! Thanks for those.

When is The Oprah episode going to air? Will it only be seen on The Oprah show, or on the real one.
Thanks

I don't know about Bree's house being used as the Cleaver's home in the 1997 Leave it to Beaver movie but Mary Alice's house is a replica of the Cleaver's home used in the original Leave it to Beaver.

As most of us know the Cleaver's started the series in one house and later moved to another house. Which of course, lead to the "Beav" being upset because his tree that Ward planted for him was at the old house not the new house and he missed his tree and wanted it at the new house. Boy, kids in Mayfield sure had it rough! :happyface

Click the link below and you'll see both houses used in the series. The second house at 211 Pine Street is the pretty much the same as Mary Alice's house. Mary Alice's house looks smaller and the chimney is in a different place but they're basically the same.

Oops- sorry I got the names wrong. The house in question is Mary Alice's house. However, the Cleaver/Mary Alice house was built in 1996 for the LITB movie production and is not the same one used in the latter seasons of the original LITB series. That house (the one shown in the black and white photo in your link) still exists on another part of the back lot and was moved off Colonial Street (Wisteria Lane) in 1988 for the production of 'The Burbs'.

The LITB movie house was designed to be very similar to the original series LITB house- it has 3 dormer windows up top, front door in the center, bay windows, etc., but is still a very different house. I have a bunch of pictures of both houses somewhere and I'll try to post some for comparison.
