I guess the link does not work outside of Yahoo!. Here is what happened:
a 13 year old suspected gang member led LAPD officers on a chase in a stolen
car and the passenger, another suspected gang member ran off with officers
in foot pursuit. The 13 year old igorned commands given by LAPD officers and
proceeded to back his car up and ram an LAPD patrol vehicle at which time
officers opened fire. It is not known how many shots were fired. The driver
was pronounced dead at the scene. His partner was arrested without incident
after a foot pursuit.

I am the last one to take sides with the police, let alone the LAPD. But when you drive a car at the police, that is considered using a weapon, and they have the right to shoot and defend themselves. Second, I have seen LAPD in action during the 2000 Dem. National Convention, these are some very big men and women, and when they tell you to stop or do something you better do it. Third I have to agree with TheAnswerMan, I'm sick and tired of these little punk gang members roaming the streets robbing and terrorizing people. I'm sorry that his life wasn't better, but this kid should have found something else to do with his life instead of how it ended. I can guarantee that his family will now try to sue the city for wrongful death. In my opinion the city should sue the parents for negligent parenting. Again JMO!

Moron. When the cop says stop, you listen, or you die. It's their life or yours and they obviously value theirs more than that lowlife did.

True.
And who knows what would have happened if he had lived? He may have shot at other gang members and "accidentally" killed a child or grandmother.

Gangs have been in Los Angeles for a long time. It's very sad to see young blacks & mexicans join gangs acting like they have nothin else better to do with their life. They wanna blame it on the fact that they live in the ghetto & nobody cares about them so that's why they join a gang to feel like they have a family. People in a gang aren't your family & they don't care about you. It's amazing how gangs can fight over neighborhoods that they don't even own. Has anybody seen Colors movie with Sean Penn & Robert Duvall? That's a good movie about gangs in Los Angeles. There's rappers from Los Angeles such as Ice T, South Central Cartel, MC Eiht, Snoop Dogg, Mack 10, WC who used to be in gangs & they glorify that s**t in their music which i don't think is cool but i listen to them anyway just to hear how the gang life is. Most urban cities like Chicago, New York, Detroit, Boston, Philly i'm sure have gangs too. It's really sad & these people that join gangs obviously don't care about living.

I was watching Maximum Exposure one night, and there was this little black girl in...Compton or somewhere...and she decided to join a gang. Her initiation into this new "family": they beat the **** out of her for like 5 minutes. Now that's my idea of a family all right.
