I still say Diane.

Diane was an all-around much better character.

But imo, at her best, Rebecca was a funnier character than Diane at her best.

If I had to choose, I'd have to say Diane.

Far and away Diane.
Rebecca was a good character up until about her breakup with Robin.
After that she was annoying as hell.


However, I prefer the Rebecca years.

Rebecca's arrival ushered in Sam acting like an idiot, and though not the sharpest tool in the shed, Sam was pretty clever.

He just seemed pathetic chasing Rebecca around and she was nothing to write home about.

I always seem to prefer watching the Rebecca Years, but I love both really.

I always enjoy watching Rebecca more the Diane. Its always more funnier with Rebecca and more fun to watch, if that makes since. Diane had her moments to, but to me was most annoying.

I think Diane was a great character, but I found Rebecca a little more likeable than Diane (although I agree that Becs could be annoying at times.) It probably has something to do with the fact that Frasier is my favourite character, and Diane left him at the altar...

Also, it seems to me that Rebecca seems to fit in a bit more with the gang than Diane did. Diane was a little pretentious at times and a bit of a snob (as was Frasier, at times) and at heart, I think she always knew she was capable of better things than being a barmaid, and I think the others sensed this as well. In my opinion, she seemed to be separate from them. With Rebecca, although she wanted to go on to better things, there always seemed to be some terrible unwritten law in the universe that prevented her from rising up. I've seen it written before that Cheers was a bar for losers; Rebecca, I think, was a loser in life, and Diane wasn't.

But Diane was the worst of losers. She was a failure at everything, and resorted to being a barmaid, and she still wasn't very well liked at the bar.

I guess in that way, she was kind of a loser. I didn't really catch on to her not being well-liked, though. Obviously Carla hated her, Frasier was annoyed with her after she left him, and Sam could get irritated with her at times...but Woody and Coach always seemed to be nice to her, and I didn't think Norm and Cliff disliked her.

Diane had her funny moments but Rebecca always had me laughing!

I'll kill two birds with one stone. I preferred Diane over Rebecca and Coach over Woody. I thought the first two seasons were the best and my favorite episode was Shelly's last show as a regular, "I Do, Adieu."

I can't choose because they each were totally different and they each added a nice element to the show. One was a barmaid. I could see if Rebecca was also a barmaid, but she wasn't. That's like trying to pick a fave male character.
Diane was so damn funny when she thought she knew it all and would get hers.
Rebecca, she was at her best WITHOUT ROBIN. I couldn't stand Robin. She was awesome all on her own. It made her strong character seem so flawed. Why can't the woman have been strong all around? Diane was a strong person too, but when it came to Sam, she had her flaws.

Diane seemed to go from being a real intellectual in the first season at least, to a pseudo-intellectual later on.
