I purchased the Royal Family from one of our colleagues on this board. This show was funny and well written. It was becoming my favorite show back in 1991 until Redd died on the set. One episode was so special. Al Royal, (Foxx's character) was about to watch a Braves baseball game on tv. The announcer said it was rained out but we will bring you this: All of a sudden the theme song for Sanford and Son came on and the studio audience started applauding! Al Royal's eyes lit up and said, " I lucked out! I like that guy! I like when he calls his son YOU BIG DUMMY! He then put his hand on his heart, mocking Fred Sanford. I thought that was so special.

Agreed, that is probably my favorite Royal Family moment. This show could have been a classic, I still laugh at each and every joke each time I watch it. Redd's acting/humor was and is timeless. This show always makes you wonder, what could have been! Great show and glad you are enjoying it.

TomI think the show could have lasted a good 5 years had he not died. I saw no flaws in it as far as writing and stories. the humor was naturally there.
