View Full Version : Should Unsolved Make a Missing or Lost Loves DVD
unsolvedfan4life 02-02-2005, 10:34 PM Would anyone here be interested if they released a DVD full of Missing Person Cases or Lost Loves. I think there are a lot of good missing person cases :
Hue Harlen, Gordon Paige, AJ Breux, Dan Wilson, and a couple that are slipping my mind. Maybe they could make a box set half Missing and half Lost Loves. Just an idea. I love the lost loves in the early years. The reuions were pretty funny the styles of clothes, and there was always someone with a mullet. Thoughts anyone?
-TRANCE- 02-03-2005, 12:04 AM The Missing Cases would be a quite good set, Lost Loves though I wouldn't be interested in much.
oldtymehardcore 02-03-2005, 05:32 AM I'd definitely be interested. A guy I knew was in one episode. His name is Justin Burgwinkel and he went AWOL from the Army about 10 years ago and then apparently disappeared. Anybody with any info please contact me, or if you know how to get a copy of that episode, I'd like one.
AngelDoll 02-03-2005, 05:11 PM I would for sure be interested in a UM Missing Persons and Lost Loves dvd sets those are some my favorite segements to watch.
Chris Billings 02-03-2005, 06:08 PM Missing - Definitely
Lost Loves - No thanks

dynoguy88 02-03-2005, 06:35 PM Missing and Lost Loves, I would buy them both.
scotterguy911 02-03-2005, 06:55 PM Yes, I said when they first announced the box sets, that they should do one on disappearances ... it's just not complete without them ... they could have included the Amelia Earhart and Flight 19 stories (luckily on the Legends DVD). Nobody is interested in Lost Loves (no offense)... they are just boring stories .. always were.
compulsive dvd 02-03-2005, 10:57 PM I would definitely buy the missing persons set. I'm hoping they put one out. I wouldn't be interested in lost loves at all. I always flip through those on the tivo. I wish they would just do one specifically on wanted criminals

Missing, hell yes, this would be both entertaining and beneficial if they were to lead to finding some
However, I have no interest at all in the Love Loves, I turn the VCR on pause whenever they come on and alot of the time I'll change the channel for 10 minutes because they're so boring. Seeing rednecks get reunited with eachother is as boring as watching paint dry
Chris Billings 02-04-2005, 07:04 PM Yeah, the lost loves segments are a bit too maudlin for my taste.
BTW Does anyone agree those segments were aimed at females? Im not sexist, but I think UM was trying to pull in the girl market with those eps.

SJP1313 02-04-2005, 07:51 PM Im hoping they come out with a missing set. These are by far my favorite segments. I think that not only would they be great to have, but with the re-release of these stories of missing people going into so many homes, theres a possibility that a few could be solved. Who knows!
As for lost loves, these are my least favorite segments. They dont interest me in the least. :)
DarkDante 02-06-2005, 07:08 PM is sales obviously - thats why to many of our chargrin - we did not get "Season themed" box sets but "Topic themed" instead. For example the whole "UFO" phenomenon appeals to a broad scope of people (Do aliens exist or not?) and by packing all those episodes together on a multi disc set they were more than sure to secure a number of purchases from that sector.
"Lost Loves" seems to be a popular segment (although for some reason not among readers of this board) so I think a "Lost Loves" set will likely be imminent. I'd like to see more of the "Murders/Unexplained Deaths/Wanted" sets and possibly a "Missing Persons" set although there is a possiblity that UM have to again contact the families to get their approval before their cases are included in a box set. Although I'm sure the families initally signed wavers there are two things to consider as to why some murders/missing persons segments may never go the "Dvd route"
1) Sometimes families just want to move on after a tragedy such as a murder or a disappearace of a loved one. Yes I know we are all big fans of these type of stories (myself included!) but to the families involved these are very real and tramatic events - Sometimes after awhile they just want to move on with their lifes and put the "incident" (for lack of a better term) in the past. However on the flip side of the coin I'm sure many families whose cases have not been solved would want as much publicity as possible so the case is eventually solved. Even some families whose cases have been solved might want their case included so people become aware of the circumstances surrounding a murder just for information purposes
2) Some families could possibly be VERY STRONGLY OPPOSED to a company making cash off of their tragedy. This is very understandable and nothing more needs to be said at least on my part about this point
Though I wonder if any cases will be solved via the "Bizarre Murders" dvd - I guess the bottom line is still sales so if we all purchase copies of the "Bizarre Murders" dvd I'm sure there will be volume 2, 3 etc. It obvious that this genre of case is the one that is most abundent with only the "Lost Loves" segments rivaling it in numeric values.
Later.

For a show like UM, topic-themed DVD sets are more efficient than the season-by-season ones. Each season of the show had so many segments that putting together a season-by-season set would be too time consuming. Therefore, my guess is that there will likely never be any season-by-season UM DVDs.

good point, i wonder if First Look had the contact the families of the murder victems on Bizarre Murders and ask for permission. Or maybe the families gave up the rights to the story when it was aired and UM had the rights already. hmmm
CrushedVelvet 02-08-2005, 03:00 PM Id love for them to do a missing persons one. The lost loves in all honesty, no interest in that. Im not being mean, many episdoes have brought me to tears, but the creepy music and creepy way Stack spoke reeled in an audience that wants more of the dark side of mysteries (or so it seems to me).
justins5256 02-09-2005, 03:41 AM Unfortunately, I've read on another UM message board (IMDB.com) that the discs don't appear to be selling well. That being the case, I'm kind of skeptical that we'll see more sets in the near future. A disappointment since none of the current sets look/sound all that thrilling.
But yeah, a missing persons set would be awesome. Anything with lost loves would be a waste of a perfectly good DVD in my opinion.

HAHA! It’s so true!
I was watching today, and they had the sad story of the father murdering his wife. The father was obviously thrown in jail --- big problem: they had 9 children! Unfortunately, each one was placed in a separate foster home. So, about 30 years later one of the sisters decides that she wants all the siblings to reunite. They show the reunion, and one of the brothers had the BIGGEST mullet this side of Texas!
Like I said in another thread, they should do a “Fashion Disaster” DVD of Unsolved Mysteries. heh! :p ;) I know it was the late ‘80s/early ‘90s, but they had some DOOZIES in there!
Kemistry 06-24-2005, 10:56 PM Nobody is interested in Lost Loves (no offense)... they are just boring stories .. always were.
Umm...No!
Some of the Lost Loves cases are pretty good and even though they maybe "boring" to you dosen't mean they are, to each his own I gues..
Brent88 06-24-2005, 11:17 PM Missing persons, Wanted, Unexplained Deaths-Yes to all 3
99.9% of the Lost Loves cases are boring. I almost always turn the channel when they are on(along with Supernatural/Psychic/UFO's/Ghosts/Miracles)
The only "Lost Love" segment I really liked was the one about the teen lovers from the 1950s. It's not a "Lost Love" in the romantic sense because it's actually about a man trying to find his daughter. The dude playing Mac was HOT! :happyface Did I just type that? :o
I described this in another thread. The guy's name is Mac and I believe the woman's name is Mary. It was basically a Romeo and Juliet story with a happier ending. heh
I asked about who the actor was. I'm not surprised it got zero responses --- no one probably cares and it's hard to find (I tried  ).
Goofyman 06-30-2005, 06:55 PM Well, the only problem I see with the DVDs is that the family might not like the idea. The legends and UFO sets were fine because they are public domain. The only other segments are Wanted, Lost Loves, and Missing. Missing and Lost Loves would be hard, but Wanted wouldn't be that difficult.
unsolved243 08-13-2010, 10:47 AM I would want to buy both dvds!
The missing person cases are always very interesting and some are surpising because of the circumstances that have to do with them (ie. Michael Hughes).
I always like to watch the lost loves because they are very heartwarming:)
mozartpc27 08-15-2010, 02:37 PM Missing: Yes x 1,000. But I'm guessing the original UM sets didn't really sell all that well, so...
Fat chance.
