View Full Version : Run DMC's Raising Hell Album
isiahthomas 02-02-2005, 04:52 PM Classic album. My favorite songs on here are Peter Piper, It's Tricky, My Adidas, Walk This Way, Is It Live, Perfection, Hit It Run, Raising Hell, You Be Illin, Dumb Girl. They fell off after this album. Tougher Than Leather album was mediocore. Back From Hell is the worst album they've ever done. Down With The King was a good & slept on album. Crown Royal is the last album they did & it should've never been made cause it's terrible LOL. DMC is talkin about doing a solo cd called Checks, Thugs, Rock & Roll. He'll embarrass himself if he comes out with that album cause nobody will buy it hahahahahahahahahahahaha.
GARFIELDKOOL 02-07-2005, 01:30 PM My Adidas, You be Illin, and Peter Piper was my favorite songs on this. You Be Illin was part of are culture in terms of coin phrases. Everytime somebody use to be trippin', we would say "Man, you be Illin!" What ever happened to hip-hop man.
isiahthomas 02-07-2005, 03:46 PM Money is what changed rap music. When the artform began, rappers were doing the music for the love of it but when money came in the picture & record companies saw that they could profit from rap, the rappers started catering their music to the mainstream cause that's what the record companies told them to do. Anytime a rapper makes music for the mainstream, i don't listen to them. I'm a underground hardcore rap fan because rap music came from the streets. It's not for the mainstream & white suburbia.

You can say that again!
isiahthomas 02-07-2005, 04:16 PM I have a problem with Run DMC having heavy metal music in their songs like Rock Box, King Of Rock, Walk This Way, Raising Hell. Like i said, rap music isn't for white people. It's for black people & i know i'm gonna get crucified on here by white people for saying this but i don't care. I don't like rappers that collaborate with heavy metal artists & i don't like rappers that have heavy metal music in their songs. I read that when Run DMC was about to do Walk This Way song, they didn't wanna do it but Jam Master Jay talked them into doing it cause he told them it would make them successful & the mainstream aka white people would buy their records. Run DMC's last album Crown Royal that came out 4 years ago is so horrible cause of the rock artists guest appearances they had. They thought just because Walk This Way was such a successful song for them, they could make that magic happen again 15 years later & they found out it didn't work cause nobody bought their Crown Royal album LOL. I was the only fool who bought it(LOL) cause i've always supported Run DMC.
GARFIELDKOOL 02-07-2005, 04:31 PM I guess they were trying to get that white audience, but still, Run DMC should have stayed underground. I can't feel pop rap.
isiahthomas 02-07-2005, 04:43 PM I've never liked pop rappers. Remember Tone Loc, Young MC, Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince, MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, Marky Mark, Beastie Boys? All these dudes were pop rappers. It's a shame they all sold their soul to get paid. Anytime a artist feels like they gotta go pop to get success, you shouldn't be a artist. Artists shouldn't let people at record companies tell them what type of songs to make cause i know these wack people who work at the labels be pumpin these artists heads up tellin them they're gonna be big stars & get paid lots of money if they make certain type of songs. A lot of artists fall for that bulls**t & that's how they lose their loyal fans. I've seen it happen too many times to rappers. Rappers i used to like such as Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, Nas, Dr Dre, 50 Cent, Method Man, Jadakiss, Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J are pop now. The Notorious Big even tried to go pop with his last album Life After Death. He has Puff Daddy to thank for that cause every rapper who signs with Bad Boy makes pop songs. I don't know what made Puff Daddy start rappin LOL. Somebody must've told him he can rap & he believed it hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Sauce Money wrote Puff Daddy's rhymes for I'll Be Missing You song that he dedicated to Biggie. If Puffy cared about Biggie so much like he says he does, how come he would get a rapper to write his rhymes for him for a dedication song? If a rapper can't write his or her own rhymes, you shouldn't be a rapper.
GARFIELDKOOL 02-07-2005, 05:34 PM Hey Isiah, I sent you a p.m. today, how come you didn't respond?
isiahthomas 02-07-2005, 06:20 PM Outkast, Ja Rule, QTip of Tribe Called Quest, The Roots i used to like too before they went pop. Andre of Outkast is very weird. Erykah Badu turned his ass out LOL. He didn't used to be like that when Outkast first came out. Every man Erykah gets with, she turns them out. Common changed too when he was dating her. Andre is playin a gangster in the new movie Be Cool with John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Cedric The Entertainer, The Rock, Christina Millan. I can't picture him playin a gangster since he's a b**ch now LOL.
