View Full Version : Rick James Cold Blooded Album
isiahthomas 02-01-2005, 02:49 PM Classic album. I like the songs You Bring The Freak Out, Cold Blooded, Ebony Eyes with Smokey Robinson, 1,2,3(You, Her & Me), New York Town, Pimp The Simp(i thought this song was called Mary Had A Pimp?). I can't get enough of this album. I listen to it often especially You Bring The Freak Out, Cold Blooded, Ebony Eyes, Pimp The Simp songs. I got it burned on cd cause it's not available on cd.
isiahthomas 02-01-2005, 02:52 PM What other Rick James albums can ya'll recommend me? Only other albums of his i've heard are Glow & Come Get It. I think he fell off after his Glow album which came out in 1985.
GARFIELDKOOL 02-01-2005, 03:55 PM Ebony Eyes is my favorite song on this album. He did fall off after Glow, I didn't care for that one.
isiahthomas 02-01-2005, 04:01 PM I love Ebony Eyes to death. ("sings")I love you & i bet you didn't know that girl, you didn't know that i need you right now baby, right now baby & i bet you didn't know that Ebony Eyes LOL. Ol Dirty Bastard did a remake of Cold Blooded on his Niqqa Please cd. His version was hilarious.
Dean Winchester 02-02-2005, 04:59 PM I'm surprised you haven't heard "Street Songs", probably his best known album.
Rick was cool
isiahthomas 02-02-2005, 05:02 PM I'm gonna have to get Street Songs album.

The song "Glow" was his last record for Rick James. I heard that song on the radio at one time.

I love "Ebony Eyes" with Smokey Robinson and Rick James. It was the best song ever.:woohoo: I have it on CD except the aircheck that I was listening to came from WMAR in Baltimore back in 1983. It was from the Reelradio website.
LadyBee 07-26-2005, 09:46 PM I can't call this one a classic. The first three songs are cool, after that this album loses focus. "1,2,3 (U Her Me)", Rick comes off like a creep. Is a menage Á trois that vital for the Superfreak to live?
Side Two, zzzzzzzzzzzzz. "Doin It" sounds a hell of a lot like "U Bring the Freak Out", "P.I.M.P the S.I.M.P" grooves, but I don't know why that doesn't grab me like his better tunes like "The Ghetto Life". And the ballad "Unity"? It sounds like it belongs on his Garden of Love album. *snore*

isiahthomas 07-28-2005, 10:17 AM LadyBee your music taste sucks. How can you say Ebony Eyes isn't a classic? That's a classic love song. Unity isn't a love song. You're thinking of Tell Me What You Want song on the album which is before Unity. I think Unity isn't a song. It's just a poem he recites.

What? I didn't say "Ebony Eyes" wasn't a classic. It is the third song on side A, isn't it? I meant that I can't call this album a classic. I wrote that the first THREE songs were fine until "1, 2, 3..." And yes I got "Unity" and "Tell Me..." confused but it's still my opinion that side B isn't very good.
Even if I did think "Ebony Eyes" wasn't a classic, that would be my opinion. I would appreciate if you would respect it. I don't appreciate my opinion being disregarded since I thought I responded with civility. I could see I if I was being rude or saying something like, "This album sucks!" without any reasons to back up that claim.
Not everybody has to agree with every damn thing you say. And excuse me, what makes you think your taste in music is so superior to mine to say my tastes suck?! Look, I respond to your posts because you seem to be the only one who frequently posts about old skool music -my favorite music genre, btw.
In posting in these threads I want to read all points of view - good and bad, pro or con.
If you're expecting everybody to agree with you and kiss your ass, well, I ain't the one.
isiahthomas 07-28-2005, 05:02 PM LOL@LadyBee getting upset at me hahahahahahahahahahahahaha. I apologize for saying your music taste sucks. Calm down.
