*Hey everyone i have some really bad news!!! American Dreams needs EVERY fans help!!!! American Dreams has been pulled for the last 2 episodes of the season. Which means AD will only be going to episode 17 which is only 4 more!!! The chances of season 4 right now are very slim right now so we need ALL of the fans to send postcards to NBC emails wont help only POSTCARDS saying you want American Dreams to stay!! As of right now if everyone doesnt go out and send postcards AD is going to be done!! So come on everyone we need your help to save American Dreams!!! Please put this around and tell your friends to send postcards too. The address to send to is:
Jeff Zucker President, NBC Universal Television 30 Rockefeller Plaza New York, NY 10112
Kevin Reilly President, NBC Entertainment 3000 West Alameda Ave. Burbank, CA 91523
I can't believe they've decided to cut 2 episodes. This is such a good show, I think it needs to be promoted more during the week. I rarely see commercials for AD. Hopefully a ton of people will send postcards and it will help get the show picked up for another season.
Storywriter 02-01-2005, 01:29 AM I read somewhere the cast is very optimistic about their show and are pushing for a Season 4.Meaning they want to have another Season now thats a cast with good Spirits.Mel :)
bandstanddancer 02-01-2005, 02:43 AM That's good to hear. I hope the show comes back for another season.
Here's an article from the fan club:
Hi everyone,
I just got back from Los Angeles and talking to Jonathan Prince about the fate of American Dreams. It is true, the season has been cut back from 19 episodes to 17. They thought this might happen, so they deliberately made episode 17 as if it could be the season finale.
This isn't good news... however, IT DOES NOT MEAN IT IS CANCELED... YET. NBC has still not decided whether or not they will have a 4th season. Everyone at AD is still fighting for it, and they are all optimistic. The writers are still writing plotlines for next season. The sets are not going to be taken down. So the door is still wide open regarding the fate of the show.
How you can help ASAP:
Yes, writing the presidents of NBC is definitely an impotant way to go. Have everyone you know write them. PLEASE remember that you need to send postcards, all mail in envelopes may still be discarded.
Tell them why you love the show- why it is important to your life. Who do you watch it with? What discussions arise from the show? Do you own the soundtrack and DVD sets? If so, mention it! Make it heartfelt and personal. Tell them how you are also supporting the advertisers on the show, (i.e. Campbell's, Ford, etc...)
This is the time to go into action- having a campaign for a show AFTER it has been canceled almost never works... the time is NOW.
I will have more updates on a hundred other ways to help the show later this evening or tomorrow morning. We've been brainstorming all day.

Purplesunset 02-01-2005, 09:06 AM This show just cannot go off the air. It is one of a few truly family oriented shows on the tube these days.
Please don't let it end.
tvfan0101 02-01-2005, 12:19 PM Curses. I am not surprised but I am disappointed.
I think I will pick up a few postcards this afternoon and send them tomorrow.

ADINSIDER 02-01-2005, 04:20 PM Hey guys!
First let me say, thanks for watching the show! The news is true. We were slated for 19 episodes and it was slashed to 17 which will be wrapped up this week. Since you guys are truly fans, your support will make all the difference. Like a previous poster stated, let Jeff Zucker and Kevin Reilly know how passionate you are about the show. Your voices will be heard. Also, if you are a new watcher, let them know that as well. Especially if you watched Cold Case or Extreme Home Makeover. Again, thanks for your support.
I am going to look around the board and answer as may questions as I can. Sorry I won't give away any plot points or secrets, but I will give you guys as many answers as you need.

rusyd 02-01-2005, 09:07 PM As I posted on another thread on this site I will definitley mail postcards to these two men. I love the show and I hope it stays on.
Screenwriter 02-02-2005, 03:28 PM This show NEEDS to be on television. Not only is it a show with moral and ethical standards, it is also a show that can teach viewers about the history of our nation. It is both entertaining and educational. The writing is excellent. The storylines are strong and compelling.
A show like this probably comes about once or twice a decade. The network and the producers have caught lightning in a bottle.
rusyd 02-02-2005, 06:04 PM :) I mailed off my postcards today.
BEATLESCHICK 02-03-2005, 12:18 AM Wrote an email to Ellen DeGeneres and Keith Olbermann (MSNBC) as well. I posted this is another forum.
rusyd 02-03-2005, 03:09 PM I tried to e-mail Ellen DeGeneres, but the site wouldn't let me in. I don't know what the problem was.
ADfan 02-03-2005, 04:07 PM I email ellen D, Oprah, and sent postcards, plus signed the petition hope it helps, this is one show I never miss! Does anyone have any insider hints as to what the remaining episodes might hold for us? The month of February is going to be a long month!
LuV2DreeM 02-11-2005, 01:53 PM It sounds like the cast and producers have upbeat attitudes about how things are going on. Maybe they have more inside knowledge than we know and all is well.
Maybe the move to Wed. is better for the show than we know.
Peace.
ADfan 02-11-2005, 03:55 PM someone said Lost is running repeats all month of March, so it may generate some new viewers. Keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best.
PrettyinPink55 02-11-2005, 10:14 PM Oh I am keeping my fingers, toes, eyes, arms, everything crossed that they don't cancel this gem of a show!!!!!
Love American Dreams 02-13-2005, 12:55 PM I read in the newspaper last week about the possibility of cancelling American Dreams. What a fantastic show. My husband and I watch it faithfully each Sunday evening with our 12 year old daughter. We explain as we go along and it is so well done that it should be shown as a history lesson each week. It's a shame that so many Americans prefer watching shows like "Fear Factor" where scantily clad women are shown eating worms or some other vile thing. I am going to send off a postcard to the addresses shown but truly hope the President of NBC reconsiders this show. There are so few shows like this on the air. Keep the faith and hope for the best!
LuV2DreeM 02-19-2005, 06:58 PM Supposedly "Survivor" might air in the place of "60 minutes" on a couple of the March Wednesdays we are on.
I don't really know which show pulls more viewers.....ie, which one would be tougher competition.
Anyone know?
Peace.
rusyd 02-19-2005, 10:02 PM I would think Survivor, but I could be wrong.
Screenwriter 02-20-2005, 02:53 PM Reality Shows, unfortunately, is a big entertainment craze sweeping this country. So, this could be the death nail.
rusyd 02-20-2005, 05:08 PM Yeah, I'm not happy about this move, but there is not much I can do about it.
LuV2DreeM 02-21-2005, 02:16 PM I know how you feel. I feel so powerless too, at times.
I guess all we can do is wait and see if Wed. is the right move.
Peace.

Uh... Survivor by a LONG shot. Survivor gets over 20 million viewers while 60 Minutes gets half that if it's lucky.

Screenwriter 02-23-2005, 10:11 PM You got a good point Storywriter. Sad isn't it?
No, not really.
rusyd 02-23-2005, 10:20 PM Sorry Screenwriter called you Storywriter.
Screenwriter 02-23-2005, 10:22 PM Don't worry about it.
LuV2DreeM 03-05-2005, 07:04 PM In these days of all of us trying to keep up hope, I can think of one thing.
I had earlier posted that our "family show" was up against other shows that had family qualities......ie, Cold Case in its attempt to find justice and Home Improvement with its helping those less fortnute.
Well, on Wed's we don't have that kind of competition with Survivor, Simple Life, Lost, etc.
The only show that might pose a threat is 60 minutes Wed.
So maybe we have a better shot with family value ratings on Wed.
Peace.

Good point!
We are also up against Smallville. But that's a different audience.
Storywriter 03-06-2005, 01:08 AM Smallville is no threat to this show at all that show only get 's about 2 million and something viewers AD beats that show with its ratings when it was on Sundays.Smallville is no threat..Mel
LuV2DreeM 03-06-2005, 02:45 AM I agree.....Smallville is a WB show.....so SUPPOSEDLY there is no competition from them for us. We are near 6 to 7 million viewers. It will be interesting to see how we do up against them. Both are arguably solid family value based shows.
At this point, Smallville probably gets about the same promotion.
We will find out in less than a week. Bad news for us though, I don't think beating the pants off Smallville will necessarily guarantee us renewal for next year.......such is the pressure of being a major network tv show.
We might have to stand up respectably against the likes of Survivor, Lost, 60 minutes and our own NBC show - Dateline.
Last week Dateline got a 7.9/12 rating, with Scott Peterson's sister interviewed.
If we don't beat or match them......I see a possible chance that Dateline will be our "competition".
Or, (just had to put this in here for the entertainment value), maybe there will be yet ANOTHER spin off of Law and Order.......or repeats.
One thing I've learned about "Hollywood" is "you beat it into the ground until it doesn't work, THEN you try something else".
Peace.
Storywriter 03-06-2005, 02:04 PM Somebody said something about Survivior.Well the show Survivior is not on on Wednesdays. Its a Thursday show on CBS I think but don't care about it really at all what so ever But I'm just saying.
On Wednesday CBS has 60 minutes at 8pm another show I really don't care about either and The King of Queens at 9pm and Yes Dear at 9:30 pm than I think one of those CSI shows at 10pm another show I don't care about but just naming the nights they are on.
Fox has American Idol and again don't care about that either and the end March a New Comedy called Life on A Stick will premiere at 9:30pm the 23rd of March which looks funny and news at 10pm.
NBC will have American Dreams and I don't know what else after it. Survivior is not a Wednesday Night show so nobody has to worry about that either its a different night no threat to AD what so ever sorry such a long post.Mel
Brent88 03-06-2005, 02:39 PM Survivor will be on Wednesdays March 16th and 23rd against American Dreams due to the March Madness basketball tournanments.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????????????????????? :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( This is going to kill us!!! NO!!!!!!!!
LuV2DreeM 03-06-2005, 07:36 PM Yeah.....I know how you feel. I don't think anyone wants to go up against Survivor.
I don't understand the popularity of it.
But that's just me.
We just have to wait and see how we do.
Peace.
Brent88 03-06-2005, 08:06 PM ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????????????????????? :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( This is going to kill us!!! NO!!!!!!!!
It's been like this every year since Survivor started(that it's aired in March). Always the third and fourth Wednesdays.
Screenwriter 03-06-2005, 08:42 PM You people make it sound like you're one of the cast. How many years do you expect it run anyway? Hopefully, just as long as American Bandstand itself lasted.
LuV2DreeM 03-06-2005, 10:48 PM Sorry, you've got a good point.
When I say "we".....it sounds a little corny....I have to admit.
As a fan of the show I have to admit I'm guilty of feeling a little "close" to the show.
Don't worry, I've got a life outside of AD.
Anyway.....I expect it to last as long as the viewers turn it on.
Peace.
Screenwriter 03-06-2005, 10:58 PM I didn't mean to make it sound like I was accusing you of not having a life outside of AD... I am sorry.
PrettyinPink55 03-06-2005, 11:35 PM I use "we" and "us" because as a viewer, we are an important part of the show!
The show means alot to me!
Storywriter 03-07-2005, 01:07 AM .I just posted whats on Wednesday night that isn't any danger to AD what so ever.Trust me I have had shows cancelled on me and I moved on.North Shore was just cancelled and trust me I'm not going into any depression at all if it happens with Ad I can't cry or act like its the end of the world..Life goes on.There is life outside Tv I'm just fed up with Reality tv and wish the fake crap would die it overrated and its trash which is JMO that's all...Mel

I just couldn't help make that comment.

Peace.its hard to explain the type of show North Shore is. So I'll explain it the best I can okay. It's like The OC or One Tree Hill if you seen those or commercials of those shows. It was set in Oahu Hawaii and a group of young adults ages 25-30 maybe older got to work for this really fancy resort called The Grand Wailea and it showed problems and stuff the characters on the show had like breaks ups etcetra anyone else whom has seen North Shore feel free to add to what I said about it okay..Mel
Screenwriter 03-07-2005, 10:12 PM It's another overdramatized Soap Opera... I mean, the only two good Soap Operas that were ever created were Dallas and Dynasty.
I have actually read a few screenwriters comments on Soap Operas. I think one of them said that Soap Operas make a mockery of established drama.
rusyd 03-07-2005, 10:45 PM Now Dynasty was a show I tuned in to every week. :)

Screenwriter 03-08-2005, 01:13 AM I missed it but I heard it got BAD reviews. I still would like to see it though.
I thoght this was a messsage board for American Dreams. Sorry that I changed the subject.

I own the first season on DVD. Personally, I do not consider this show to be a soap opera. It doesn't come off as one because of the time setting. It takes place in the 60s (I think) which is a very.... tumultuous time. It has some of the classic Soap Operatic appearances like overarching storylines. There's twists and turns in this show but not overinflated.... it's not unrealistic like a daily soap opera would be. I don't watch daily soaps, but my mom does... so, that's how I know about daily soaps.
I love the show. I think that it's one of the most unique shows ever created. To me, it's perfect. The show takes place in a different time and I'm a history nut. So... I love the show.
