I just came upon the link above that may interest those familiar with the murder of Michael Francke. It is an article dated November 17, 2004.

He was the Oregon prison official who was murdered in 1989 (the case was shown on UM a year later). A man named Frank Gable was convicted of the crime and was sent to prison. It was claimed that Gable killed Francke during a botched car burglary, there have been doubts in the case, especially doubts about Gable's guilt.

The article mentions the recent discovery of a document that was never presented in the trial of Frank Gable, the man convicted of murdering Francke. Nor was it presented during his appeal. The document in question was a sworn statement made by a former secretary and girlfriend of Scott McAlister, a former assistant attorney general.

McAlister was seen by many people as a possible suspect in Francke's murder. By many accounts, Michael Francke cut McAlister's prison power, and McAlister was unhappy about it. He resigned shortly before Francke's murder.

I never bought the theory that Frank Gable killed Michael Franke while interupting a car break in. That still doesn't tell us who all those men were who fled the company area in a big van the night of the murder.

I wish there was a better picture of McAlister in that article to compare with the composite drawing of the man seen acting suspicious in the office building the night Franke was killed.

Re: this MF segment, this sounds like the plot of a film. I.e., prison official uncovers corruption inside the organization. And, before he can blow the whistle and name names - he's murdered.

I definitely think that MF was killed to "shut him up", though this may never be proven.

Agree completely. I think FG is a patsy/scapegoat here.
