I just wanted to get some opinions here. What is Cybill's book like and should I get it? (that's probably a stupid question here, right?)
And secondly, do any of you have any of Cybill's albums? (stupid question part 2?) I listened to clips of the recent live one and really enjoyed it. Can anyone recommend one that would be good for starting off with?

Thanks!

1) I read her book almost twice. It's really good and hilarious, you should really read it!

2) I have her new cd "At Home With Cybill" (got it from Cybill herself hehe) The music is really great!

3) Questions are NEVER stupid.

Thanks Steph! I looked in town for the book yesterday but no one had it, so I shall order it online. What's the story with the CD?

I went to her show in London last October. Together with Tazmania and Carina (also members of this forum)

After the show we asked Cybill her bodyguard if he could ask Cybill to take a picture with us. She didn't want to do that, so he came back with a T-Shirt ("Disobedience" written on the front and her printed authograph on the side), her book "Cybill Disobedience" and her cd "At Home With Cybill". He said: "Cybill asked me to give you this". I received the cd and Taz kept the book and the T-Shirt. Carina and I received the same T-Shirt from Taz' hubby and I bought the book again. Now I have the book twice LOL.

Here is Taz' story about it: (my story is awfull)

Oh my goodness! What a fabulous story! And you all came over from Holland to see it? Oh I'd love to meet up with you guys to go and see one of her shows if she ever comes back over. I love London. Over the summer holidays I went with a friend to see Lorna Luft's (Judy Garland's daughter) show and that was amazing. We met her afterwards too and she was the nicest person.

Does Cybill tour a lot? What do you think are the chances of coming back over here?

This was the second time in London I think. About 2 years ago she had one too. I think she likes it in London. (me too btw)

If she's coming to London again I'm coming too! Hopefully less nervous then in October LOL

Carina came all the way from Spain. I heard her saying that to Cybill.

Carina to Cybill: We came all the way from Holland and Spain just to see you!

There was one woman in the audience who thought she came from far to see her show. She said: Cybill I came from Ireland! Will you sit on my lap please? Cybill: "Just a minute!!"

Then Taz yelled HOLLAND! And Cybill totally forgot about the other woman hahaha

Gem, the book is great. Definitely read it.

I have At Home With Cybill and Talk Memphis To Me. I like them both but I think Talk Memphis to Me just edges it as favourite

Is Talk Memphis to Me the live one? I was listening to clips of a live album on her site and really loved it - there was some really funny in between song banter. I will definately get one and see what I think.

I ordered the book from Amazon so I'll have a while to wait til that arrives. I'm really looking forward to reading it though.

Did you all see her on the Jonathon Ross show a while back? It was before I got into Moonlighting and I wasn't really paying much attention. I love Jonathon Ross so I always have his show on, but I must have been doing something else at the same time. I wish I'd watched it now. Is it online anywhere?

donno, I saw it. I loved the comment about her mountain boots LOLOL

Woman: Cybill why are you wearing those mountain boots?
Cybill: Because I never know when I have to climb a mountain or a man.

HAHAHA

The live album is called Live At The Cinegrill. I think it's really good but I only heard the songs online.

Hi guys I thought I should drop a note in here .....
First of all Stephie.... The Spain thing was said by YOU! And remember I have it on tape hehehe
Gypsygem, if you want I can mail you some songs of the album Live at the Cinegrill (but ofcourse it's always more fun to have it. It's my favourite.)
I have all of Cybill's albums except Cole Porter and Vanilla (which I still wanna buy).
London was a dream come true! I never imagined she would pick ME to hug, dance and sit on her sofa!
I was a little disspointed that she didn't want to take a pic with us BUT.... when her bodyguard came back with CD, shirt and book and told me she wanted him to give me this, I was really glad with her gesture.
I already had the CD "At home" so I gave it to Steph, she didn't have it yet.
Shirt to Carina and I kept her book.
Her book is FAB! Go get it and you will not be able to stop reading!
Enjoy!

It was literally: "we came all the way from Spain and Holland to see you!"
You've got memoryloss!

Well my copy of Live at the Cinegrill arrived today and was waiting for me when I got home from work. I've listened to it once and I really like it. I love the in between song banter with the audience.

Also, I found a copy of Cybill Disobedience in a second hand book shop over the weekend and just started it. It's really great - she's so honest and funny! Ijust read the bit about Elvis - can you imaine being hit on by Elvis, for goodness sake?! Also, I wanted to ask - I had though that Cybill had written it herself. What does it mean when it says that it's co-written with Aimee Lee Ball?

gypsygem81
02-08-2005, 03:30 PM
Yeah, I guess so. I was a bit disappointed to see that she didn't write it all herself. It's a shame cause I'm sure she's more than capable. It's just that you never know who's work it really is. It shouldn't make a difference, I know. I'm just being silly. And I'm still really enjoying the book. I'm trying not to read too much at the moment so I can sit down and read it next week on my week off.

Oh! I forgot to say this: co-writing is a very common thing between people who want to do a biography book. What they do is they hire another person, a writer, and the tell everything about themselves... So the writer takes notes and all that, and, because he/she is experienced, she knows what to write and how to do it, and would be interesting to mention and what not... I don't mind co-writen books I think...

Oh, it wasn't a dig. I finished the book last week and I loved it. I want to read it again! It's funny how she refers to her men as 'The Producer' and 'The Costar' etc. It was a really good book, she's had a really interesting life. I honestly didn't even know who she was before I started watching ML. I mean I knew who she was, but didn't really know why she was famous.

I was just reading the Rolling Stone article/interview with Cybill from back in the ML days at http://www2.academic.marist.edu/~jfk6/pic7text/pic7text.html and Glenn makes some nice comments about her towards the end. And there are some funny pictures of her. Nice hair Cyb.
