All of these are great songs from '82. "Hard to Say I'm Sorry" by Chicago was #3 back then, later covered the song by an R&B group, Az Yet. "Hot in the City" by Billy Idol was the song that it was used as a theme song for the TV series "Booker". You'll remember the theme song, it was a follow-up to "21 Jump Street". Michael McDonald's "I Keep Forgettin'" was his first post-Doobie Brothers hit and it was later used as a beat sample for Warren G's hip-hop classic "Regulate". "Big Fun" by Kool & the Gang. I remember the song, but I haven't it again for such a long time. "Eye of the Tiger" was the song that it was featured in the movie "Rocky 3" and it was also the first song that it was played on Z100 that it was launched back in 1983. ANd let's not forget the classic song by the late Laura Branigan called "Gloria". These are the songs are from 1982.

From this era, if I saw a list of the top soul singles it would have more songs on it that I liked, but the ones above are if not songs I like at least something is interesting about them to me. As for Chicago's tune it's OK esp the freeform jam session at the end that the radio stations never play, but the follow-up single Love Me Tomorrow is better to me.

I hate it that radio stations always cut out "Get Away" when playing "Hard To Say I'm Sorry", the song just doesn't sound right without the last minute when it becomes a rock song.

I know that, Az Yet doesn't have the ending to "Get Away" just the remake of "Hard to Say I'm Sorry" not the remake of the ending. The ending was cut off for its new greatest hits CD by Chicago called "Love Songs".

This looks like a playlist from the 70's - Chicago, America, solo Paul McCartney, Melissa Manchester, Donna Summer, Elton John, etc. Pop didn't change until around 1983, after Michael Jackson released Thriller and pioneered the music video star concept of the 80's.
