In observance of Hanna-Barbera's legendary cat and mouse duo's 65th anniversary, it's time to sum up Tom & Jerry's long, varied history, which is divided into 7 different eras:


Era #1 - MGM/Hanna-Barbera (1940-1958) 114 cartoons

Era #2 - MGM/Gene Deitch (1961-1962) 13 cartoons

Era #3 - MGM/Chuck Jones/Sib-Tower 12 (1963-1967) 34 cartoons

Era #4 - Hanna-Barbera Productions - The New Tom & Jerry/Grape Ape Show (1975-1977) 48 cartoons (my personal fave!)

Era #5 - Filmation Associates - The Tom & Jerry Comedy Show (1980-1982) 30 cartoons

Era #6 - Hanna-Barbera/Turner Enterprises - The Tom & Jerry Kids Show (1990-1993) 39 cartoons

Era #7 - Turner Enterprises/Warner Bros.:
Tom & Jerry: The Movie (1992)
The Mansion Cat (2000)
The Magic Ring (2002)
Blast Off To Mars (2005)




All in all this comes down to a grand total of 282 Tom & Jerry cartoons created within a 65-year span!

My brother is a huge Tom & Jerry fan. He still watches the show all the time on both Cartoon Network and Boomerang. I could not get Boomerang on cable. Tom & Jerry has been around for 65 years. I hope there's another cartoon character coming up on March 9th will be Porky Pig's 70th birthday. :birthday: to these two duo. My brother loves Tom & Jerry. When we were kids we used to watch Tom & Jerry all the time. My brother has it on DVD.
