ABC has pulled Complete Savages for February sweeps, so you can catch new 8 Simple Rules episodes not only at 8:00 PM ET/PT Fridays, but now also at 8:30, though those are reruns.

ABC is cutting back its commitment to Mel Gibson-produced laffer "Complete Savages" and pumping up its Tuesday comedies.

ABC has sliced its order for "Savages" to 19 episodes, down from the 22 it had greenlit, and is pulling the NBC U TV Studio-produced series from its lineup immediately.

In its place ABC will air repeats of "8 Simple Rules" Fridays at 8:30 p.m. "Savages" is expected to return in March.

Meanwhile, ABC will "supersize" three of its Tuesday comedies as part of a February sweeps stunt. "My Wife and Kids," "George Lopez" and "According to Jim" will all expand to 40 minutes on Feb. 22, pre-empting "Rodney" for the night.

8SR is a good show and all, but I like Complete Savages.

The remaining episodes of Savages will air in March. It was not doing well in the ratings. ABC saw a decent start for 8SR, then Savages would go down quite a bit, before Hope & Faith brought it back to a decent rating at 9pm.

Is that some sort of tough slot for ABC? I remember The Big House didn't do well following the George Lopez Show last spring.

I'm definetly going to miss Complete Savages. I hate to see it go.

That extending the Tuesday shows to 40 minutes is pretty cool, though.

There has been a big drop in that slot since last year, Married to the Kellys and Big House. I think 8 Simple Rules encores will most likely build on 8pm even, so ABC made a good move for sweeps. Question is what will they do next season in that slot? I'd have My Wife & Kids move to Fridays at 8, followed by 8 Simple Rules at 8:30, Hope & Faith at 9, and a new sitcom at 9:30. I don't think Tuesdays 8-9pm will be comedy next season, as that hour has gone down. George Lopez would be good after According to Jim on Tuesdays at 9:30. Less Than Perfect should move to Thursdays like at 9:30, after Jake in Progress if that does well this spring. I don't see Rodney coming back next year. So, unless ABC cancels a few other sitcoms, I only see them adding 1 new one next fall and Jake in Progress. Still too early to tell...

I am glad 8 Simple Rules will bre air at 8:30 pm sice I missed a few episode's of 8 Simple Rules.
