View Full Version : What's the worse job you ever had?
GARFIELDKOOL 01-25-2005, 10:04 AM Mine was back in 1994. I was working at this warehouse called Ragu. The people ran it were very nasty, they had a prison mentality. We wore prison type uniforms, hard hats, goggles, and worked liked dogs. We only got paid $4.75 an hour. People were quitting left and right because of the people in charge. People were busting jars of spaghetti sauce by accident, and they went all off on people. It got so bad, sombody said, **** it, and purposely busted a jar and walked out. I lasted 2 months there, I couldn't take it.
isiahthomas 01-25-2005, 10:47 AM I've had a lot of terrible jobs especially workin at factories cause that's all Cleveland has since it's a industrial city. I used to work at Blue Coral which is a factory that makes car wax products that you use to wash your car with. I was only making $5.15 a hour & i worked on a assembly line. I had to wear goggles which i didn't like. I also had a job workin at Dirt Devil which is a vaccum company. I used to unload trucks with some ignorant black men. I quit the job cause i got tired of them crackin jokes about me. I felt they were gettin too personal asking me do i have sex regularly. Black people are so damn noisy. I also had a job workin at a factory called Van Dyne Crotty. They make uniforms & rugs. I didn't like that job either cause of the black employees i was workin with. This black man gave me some condoms trying to be funny cause he wanted to know if i was having sex regularly cause i seemed too quiet to him. I don't come to work to make friends & talk a lot. I come to work to do my job. That's the problem with blacks at jobs. They run their mouths too much & they be trying to make friends with people they work with. You don't come to work to do that cause if you get too close with your co-workers & tell them your business, they'll tell other co-workers your business. Has anybody ever tried to date the opposite sex that they work with? Don't ever do that cause everybody on the job will know your business especially if you work around a lot of blacks. I posted a topic on here before about i don't like workin with a lot of blacks cause they're ignorant. I'd rather work with whites cause i like the way whites come to work to do their job & they don't ask you a lot of personal questions. They be serious about their job. I will never work at any factories ever again.
EricIdlefan 01-25-2005, 10:50 AM Two jobs: One at a conveinant store and another at Walmart where I got fired due to not being friendly enough nor nice. Sad part about Wally World is that the employers are well-taken care of while the employees barely make $7.00 an hour.
isiahthomas 01-25-2005, 10:54 AM I also had another terrible job workin at a grocery store called Tops. I used to be a janitor there sweepin the floors, cleaning bathrooms, dumping trash. It was part time & i got paid $6.50. That's the first job i had after i graduated from high school. I have nobody to blame but myself for the wack jobs i've had but those are the type of jobs you get when you're uneducated. If i had to do all over again, i would've pursued a career in the music industry workin at a record company so i can learn the business cause i love r&b & rap music so much. I've always wanted to meet r&b & rap artists but i never wanted to live anywhere else but Cleveland. That's the only thing that's stoppin me from trying to get in the music industry cause i don't like living in congested cities like New York & Los Angeles.
Sterling Holobyte 01-25-2005, 10:56 AM I once worked on an assembly line putting these tiny plastic thingys on computer boards. I had no idea what their purpose was and couldn't figure out why the board couldn't just be made with those plastic things already in place. That irritated me right there, and then you would get this glue crap all over your fingers as well. I think I worked about a week there doing the same thing for eight hours a day before I quit.
I don't know how anyone could work on an assemby line.
*MIBabe03* 01-25-2005, 11:27 AM The only job that I ever had and it was being a courtesy clerk. Tranlation: a sacker. It sucked, only because nine out of ten customers were rude.
phoebe7165 01-25-2005, 11:34 AM 7-11, hands down. This store was in a bad neighborhood, so there were quite a bit 'undesirables'. People would come in, buy a piece of 5 or 10 cent candy and give me a $1 food stamp, so they could get all the change back. It's like a guy would come in, buy a piece, then come back about an hour later, buy another piece. Like I don't remember you were just in here an hour ago. Talk about seriously taking advantage of the food stamp system. Then you had to watch so you didn't get ripped off. A lady came in and tried to steal cigarettes when she thought I wasn't looking. A guy actually walked right out the front door with 2 12-packs of beer without paying for them while I was waiting on a line of people. As he was walking out, he said "See ya"!! Then he had the nerve to come back to the store a few weeks later, and I happen to be working. I told him "You've got alot of nerve coming back here after you stole those 12 packs of beer", and he says "I don't know what you're talking about."
This 7-11 had gas pumps and we were told if you can't see the person, don't set the pump beforehand. Well, I didn't know this one woman and I really couldn't see her because she was standing behind the pump so I didn't set the pump. She was pissed and when she came in to pay, she was cussing about me while she was standing in line. I finally got tired of hearing her go on and I said, "Lady, just shut up, I was just doing my job". We had this money container on the counter, so you can donate to some charity. After I made my comment, she hit the container and it went flying. Then she started walking around and she starting coming behind the counter. I thought she was coming to beat the crap out of me, so I immediately called 911(there's was a phone right next to me). She was coming behind the counter to retrieve her pen that also flew in the air when she hit the container.
I don't know how I lasted 7 months there, but I finally quit. When I worked there, I worked 2 graveyard shifts a week. There was another lady who worked the other 5 nights on the graveyard shift, and I basically worked her nights off. A week after I quit, she got robbed on her shift. Not only did they take the money but they took her wedding ring, too. She had just gotten married a few weeks before.

I will never work at any factories ever again. That just reminded me Isiah, at this job I worked at that I listed above, I worked with a lot of ex-cons and people who worked to support their habits. I didn't belong in the same room with most of them. I took the job because I was right out of high school and wasn't going to college right away. I worked with some ignorant black people as well as other races. We had to unload spaghetti sauce jars on the assembly line. On payday, people would get up in cliques and do something after work. This one dude that worked there, I swear I didn't know him from boo, he had scars all on his neck, after I cashed my check, he asked me if me and him wanted to hang out and smoked some weed. I was like no, because I didn't know him, and I knew me and him had nothing in common. But that is the way it was there.
Crimson and Clover 01-25-2005, 01:07 PM stacking boxes at Wix. i was there for two days and i found out i was pregnant and quit.
Lady T 01-25-2005, 01:12 PM When I was a teen-ager I worked at Jack In the Box!
It was far the worst job I ever had, it sucked. I worked at Drive-Thru. and what a pain in the butt that was, and it is very hard work for such little pay and you are treated like crap by both the customers and the higher management level. I worked at this fast food restaurant for over a year and a half then I had enough and I quit and went on to better things.
isiahthomas 01-25-2005, 02:50 PM There's a temporary agency in Cleveland called Minute Men where they pay you the same day that you work. There's so many uneducated blacks & bums that go to Minute Men, it's pathetic. They like gettin paid daily for some reason. What can you do with $40 a day? Most of Minute Men's jobs pay $5 & $6 a hour. Their jobs don't pay no higher than that. Then if you have a car, you have to take people with you for Minute Men. I don't like riding people with me. I used to do it when i worked for Minute Men but it'll never happen again. I'm so mad at myself for wasting 8 years of my life after high school cause most of the jobs i've had were temporary & dead end jobs. I will never work for a temporary agency again cause the jobs that they send you to will never hire you cause it saves the companies money so they don't have to pay you health & medical benefits.
GARFIELDKOOL 01-25-2005, 03:10 PM The job I listed above employed people through 2 temp agencies. One was called Personelle Pool and the other Extra Help. I worked for Extar Help. Extra help paid the workers weekly. Personelle Pool paid their workers everyday. That was like 35 bucks. The people that worked there were the ones that worked to support their habit and really didn't care.
Kazza 01-25-2005, 04:21 PM I once worked on an assembly line putting these tiny plastic thingys on computer boards. Sounds like you and me worked in the same place. I hated that job!!!My parents kept pushing me to stay because I would come home in tears. I had to count the tiny plastic with metal thingys and put them in boxes by hand. My fingers had pokes everywhere; they moved me to shipping and the woman there was a real *****. I had to work with a computer system that I'd never seen before and put this heavy what looked like CPU's( I had no idea how they looked like back then) inside the boxes to ship. I was barely 90lbs so I couldn't pick them up and she would be  at me all the time. They sent me to this file room full of mold and smelly to file. The light was dim there but I was 'happy' because no one bothered me. The next day, the boss talked to me and sent me home. I told her that I would walk since I lived close enough. She offered to give me a ride. Not long after that the company went out of bussiness. :D
dawsongirl 01-25-2005, 04:51 PM Like I haven't bitched about this enough here, but whatever.
I was a secretary/receptionist for a mechanic who owned his own little shop. This thing was very family-run, and let me tell you, NEVER work for a family unless you are family. He was dumb as a brick when it came to doing anything but working on a car. His wife, who I basically shared the job with, should honestly be committed. She didn't trust anyone but her husband and her saintly sons. And if you ever did her wrong, you might just as well die, because she'd talk about you non-stop to whomever would listen. Really tacky and rude woman. She trusted no one to the point where all I would do during the day was clean the office. I was not a cleaning lady! Well, the girl who had the job before me (presumably because the job was so damn boring), spent a lot of time on the computer and looked at porn (um, duh. Not on an office computer). Well, because she was an idiot, my boss assumed I was as well, and I think she had it out for me from day one.
Their accountant is my mom's boss and that's how I got the job. Mom's boss knows me and he told them to let me do all the computer work, since I know my way around a PC. Well, that lasted all of like 2 months because I started doing things they didn't know how to do. Can't show up the boss.
Now, between the time I started and the time I left, 4 different mechanics left or were fired, one of them being the owner's brother. And they ALL left on bad terms. Nothing they did, it was my boss. He was so unreasonable, just like his wife. When the last guy left, who was a nice guy and I liked working with, that was the end. I came home crying because they treated him like **** and accused him of all the crap and then they'd lie to everyone and tell them what a rotten employee he was and what not. I can't stand liars. All this while my responsibilities were getting taken away one by one for no reason.
On the last day I worked there, I was bored off my ass, so I start reading the manuel for the scheduling program on the computer, because when I first started there, she had asked me to see if there was a way to delete people and combine them because some people were in the database like 4 times. So I read up on it, and I find a way, so I start. She comes in and rakes me over the coals for doing it, despite the fact that she was the one who told me to do that in the first place. That lame accusation, plus all the **** I'd been put thru up to that point, pissed me off, so I left for lunch with "My resignation will be on your desk this afternoon." I went back to give them a formal letter, because my mom told me that way they couldn't come back on me for just walking out, and this is what I got...yelled at. Yelled at for not cleaning (I had 8 hours to do a 30 min job. Doing it first thing in the morning was not a priority). Yelled at for doing nothing but playing on the computer. Um...that's why I was hired. So I got bored and checked my email once in awhile. Like no one else ever has. Yelled at for watching TV all the time. Well, if you don't want me to, don't tell me I can turn it on. Plus I know how to work and listen to a TV at the same time; I studied that way all thru JH and HS. Yelled at for being irresponsible. Well, there was no defending myself there, so I left, went to my mom's office, and cried so hard I nearly passed out. That pissed her off, so she calls him and very tactfully reams him a new one. I  my mom.
Anyway, as lame as this sounds, I've never been able to put the past behind me, so I keep thinking about that whole job and it makes me mad and drives me crazy and it's permanently scarred my already anxiety-ridden psyche for life.
Those people are the most worthless human beings the world has ever known and Satan needs to come back and collect them.
dawsongirl 01-25-2005, 04:56 PM I'd rather work with whites cause i like the way whites come to work to do their job & they don't ask you a lot of personal questions. They be serious about their job.
Unless they work at the post office. My dad works with some damn lazy white guys. The laziest was a black dude though. He thought he didn't have to ever work because he could play the race card. You can't fire me because I'm black. He stole cans out of charity donation bins. Worthless pos.

I understand that ! I worked in aware house too , after i quit working at a grocery store! the both jobs were a pain ! but ware house people are rude , and the girl that trained me didnt train very good or should i say " didnt help me ",everytime i asked a question they get snotty.. but i got fired from that job lol i didnt care ! i worked from 5am to 330pm in the afternoon, 3 days on 4 days off ! but im working in a office now and im happy with the hrs and the people i work with. and this is gonna be my job forever.
isiahthomas 01-25-2005, 06:16 PM I used to work in a warehouse before as a janitor & i didn't like that job either. Plus the black employees i worked with teased me. I swear damn near every job i get, i get teased by my co-workers cause i'm quiet. So since i don't talk much, they think i don't have a life. Blacks wonder why we get stereotyped by whites cause we're so damn ignorant. When does the ignorance ever end? I tease people too but i never ask people personal questions cause i don't care about their life. Like i said before, when you come to work, you don't come to work to make friends & talk a lot. You come to work to do a job & blacks don't get that. They think you supposed to talk a lot & bulls**t around. Then they wonder why they get fired cause they run their mouths too much.
vienna waits 01-25-2005, 07:15 PM I <3 my job. It's the only job I've had so I've never had a bad job obviously.
