How would Seinfeld have never aired if Johnny Carson hadn't hosted The Tonight Show?

And I think the obvious answer is that there never would have been The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.

A comic who made it to Carson was like Dorothy reaching the Emerald City.
They do say that a comic who killed on The Tonight Show and was asked to then sit on the couch and talk to Johnny could write his or her own ticket the next day.

Roseanne (Back when she had a last name) probably got her show from her Tonight Show appearance.

I did read somewhere that Drew Carey admits that his sitcom was a result of his Tonight Show gig.

That's what I was thinking, but I remember reading that Seinfeld came about just because the NBC execs liked him. Although, they could have liked him because of his Tonight Show appearance.

Jerry was already a pretty well known comic when he was making his tonight show appearances. I dont think he achieved "breakout" status like some other comics did when they got thier Tonight Show break.

Seinfeld credits his career to Johnny Carson, and rightfully so.

Anyways....
Everybody Loves Raymond, The Cosby Show, Roseanne and The Drew Carey Show are only a few examples of series that would have never happened had it not been for Carson.
