I'm saddened to hear that Johnny Carson had died at the age of 79. Now he is with our Prinze.

I saw that on Yahoo News just a little while ago--they did not mention Freddie either as one of the many young comics Johnny launched, or as one of his frequent guest hosts :(

It makes me sad that they never mention Freddie. I was scoping the list of names too and I was looking to find Freddie's name. To no avail..... :(

I wonder why they didn't mention him, Johnny was very impressed with his talent, after all he was guest host, and i do think that had he lived he would be the host of the tonight show in place of Jay Leno (No offense Mr. Leno)

So sorry to hear about him. It is sad.. They had a feature on him on the NBC nightly news & also they did a Dateline special on him on NBC. On them both they mentioned how he started up some comics careers & showed pics of some of them, yet no Freddie. That bugged me. Why is Freddie always getting overlooked? Sigh...

I have to think it was because they were spending so much time on those who are still with us, or a few who are gone but had more extensive careers because they lived longer. I agree tho, it would have been nice if they had mentioned Freddie, especially since he broke ground by being asked to the dais after his first act on there.

I agree that there were so many people who got their start with Johnny Carson that they couldn't name everyone. I still remember when Freddie was on for the first time. I never missed Johnny's monologue ( of the joy of having my very own tiny B/W t.v.!). I used to go to bed and very quietly watch the first part, and sometimes more, of each nights show. It's a wonder I didn't fall asleep in school! Freddie was so awesome--he deserved Johnny's praise!

Was Freddie's death mentioned on The Tonight show back then? Tony Orlando said that Freddie had a list of people drawn up who he wanted to be his pall bearers at his funeral when he died. Johnny was one. Did Johnny actually do it?

I dunno if Freddie's death was mentioned on the Tonight Show.... it was in the news, but because of the circumstances, people in Hollywood kinda stepped lightly when talking about Freddie's death.

Johnny may have been mentioned on a list. I know Freddie made one, cause he wanted his good friend Richard Pryor to be a pall bearer too. From what I understand, Kathy didn't want Richard.* I looked for the picture I have somewhere of the pallbearers with Freddie's casket, but I can't seem to find it. I don't think Johnny was at the funeral. I could be wrong tho. I am pretty sure he wasn't a pallbearer tho. Anyone else with info???

*this info was in his mother's book about him

Johnny wasn't a pall bearer. I don't think he even went to the funeral.
