As anybody heard the name Doo-Wop music? That's right, doo-wop music was the most popular style of the 50's and early 60's. They had a bunch of street corner group like the Drifters, Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers, the Five Satins, the Peguins, the Chantels and a lot of other great groups harmonizing. The first group can to my mind was the Ink Spots and the Mills Brothers. Both are just early influences of doo-wop music from the 40's. The 50's, doo-wop would never be the same. I love doo-wop very music. I remember my stepdad has a collection of doo-wop 45's. I always love doo-wop.:) Any thoughts about it? Post it here!

I don't know how I missed this thread.
I am a big Doo-wop fan. In fact, it's my favorite type of music. My favorite bands of that music being the Flamingos, the Platters, the Harptones, the Solitaires, the Five Satins, the Five Keys, and many more.

Harmonies from that era, IMO, have never been matched.

Here is a video which has a good sample of some doo-wop songs:

I like the style very creative. Who's the boss? did an episode that had to do with singing doo-wop. It sounded cool. I would like to hear more du-wop songs.

Glad to see that there are other Doo-wop fans out there. :)

It is really amazing the quality of music they put out especially considering their ages. Many members of doo-wop bands were well under 20 years old; one member of the Mello-Kings was only 15 when they had their 1957 hit "Tonite! Tonite!"

I also like the Doo-wop music, they used to have a Doo-wop theater at Opryland Theme Park where they would play that music & do skits. It was pretty neat, too bad they tore down the park & put in a mall.

George Clinton (The leader of Parliament-Funkadelic) his roots was in Doo-Wop. He had a Doo-Wop group in the 50s as a teenager.
