I always called my mother Mom and my father Dad. When I was a kid and wanted my own way, I'd moan, "Come on, Maaaaa".

I never outgrew calling my father Daddy as a term of affection. If I gave him a hug or kiss on his birthday, a holiday or if the mood struck, I'd say, "I love you Daddy".

I called my grandparents Nana and Grandpa. My husband's family calls the grandfather Noni (Naw-nee).

I call both my grandparents Grandma and Grandpa. If I'm talking to someone about them, I'll distinguish - Grandma/Grandpa Cornell or Grandma/Grandpa Culhane.

My mom is either Mom, Mama, or Mommy. Dad is Dad, Pa, or Daddy. There was a very long period of time where I called them Mumsy and Father-o, but I gave it up one day. I wish I could go back, but I can't get back into the habit.

I call my parents mom and dad. When I'm with other people, I prefer using "mother" and "father", especially if I'm introducing them to someone else.

I call both my grandmothers "grandma" but I've called my maternal grandfather "Grandpop" since 1996. I just call my other grandfather "grandpa."

I don't think I have ever called my father "daddy." I don't think I liked that word even as a little kid.

I call them Mom, Dad, Grandpa, Grandma- yeah, real exciting!!

But I noticed when you get to a certain age you're allowed to call your parents by their first names. Like my mom now calls her mom by her first name!

I don't know anyone who does, I'd never feel comfortable with that.

Read thru most of the thread and most are kind and respectful comments of parents, until the last 2 and the sequence was broken. and wouldn't you know it a couple harsh male members came thru. Couldn 't resist my comment.
