in that song '1985' when they say, 'way before nirvana'. if they knew music, they would know that nirvana was around in the 80's.

Shouldn't this be on the music board?

I didn't know Nirvana was around in the 80's. Maybe they were around but they probably weren't POPULAR until the 90's.

Besides, I really hate that song anyway!!

Nirvana may have been around in 1985, but 99.9% of the population did not know who they were. They were not on the public's radar. Besides, "1985" is a song, and they took some freedom with some of the lyrics. For example, Blondie, Pretty In Pink and Whitesnake's car are mentioned in the lyrics though Blondie broke up in 1982, Pretty In Pink did not come out until 1986 and the Whitesnake video with the model on the hood of the car did not come out until 1987. "1985" is a pretty catchy song, much more then anything released my the before mentioned Nirvana.

Nirvana was around in 1985 I think, but no one outside of Seattle knew who they were. Dave Grohl wasn't even in the band at that point. I like Nirvana, Nevermind was a good album (still is), but they were overrated I think. Nirvana didn't become well known until Nevermind busted up the charts during the fall and winter of 1991.

well, Nirvana was around in the 1980's, but truthfully, they don't come to most people's attention when it comes to "80's nostalgia". They were around since 1986 or 1987 but most of the world wasn't familiar with them until Nevermind in 1991.

Relient K basically did the same song as 1985 and did it better, "In Love With The 80's"
