 Hey all you'll never believe this...our oldest son is in Pensacola FL at the airbase there (he is US Marine), and when he called last week he had learned that Don Knotts was a Marine DI at Parris Island. Apparently he was one mean dude but he does have a brass or bronze bust 3-d portrait-whatever they call those that hang on the wall like a picture, either at Parris Island or at Pensacola (can't recall which) on their wall of fame.
Imagine!! :kitties:

 Yeah, well I guess not. Makes you wonder if while doing drill they don't also sing John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt (or whatever that name is) as they march along; the rhythm would be a good one....but being the tough guys they are they're not about to tell, are they? LOL real hard!! ;)

patriot: Gotta love the fellas in the service no matter what branch, though. They do a lot that most of us wouldn't. Our oldest son is going to Iraq later this summer :crying: all we want is for him to return safely. He won't be in any immediate danger but the thought is there.... Hugs to all of 'em!

You are preachin' to the choir. I am an Army brat and quite proud of my father's military career. God bless our service men! patriot:

Amen. My husband is in the U.S. Air Force, and we are both living overseas right now. It takes a lot out of a person. But I really am proud of him...much more than he could ever know. His cousin is in the Army Reserves, will have a baby due in June, and will be shipping out to Iraq in July. I pray everyday that he will return back to his home after it's over and get to be with his new wife and baby...and I pray everyday that my husband won't be sent to Iraq, Afghanistan, or anywhere else like that himself. God bless our troops...what would we have without them?

I will join you in prayers for your loved ones' safety. I fully support our military men and what they are trying to accomplish.. I just wish that it didn't take so long to bring safety and freedom to the world. Then I look at how long it took for things to settle down after other wars and I realize these things do take a long time... but I hate that people have to be in harm's way for peace to have a chanced to fully be born, nourished and come into its own.... may the Lord hasten a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan... and elsewhere...

It's not true. The second post in this thread is where I post a link to Snopes where they prove it is an urban legend.
