View Full Version : Brady Bunch on dvd erin05 01-19-2005, 10:43 PM does anyone know where i would be able to get the series from, when it comes out in NZ? Jack1000 02-21-2005, 09:53 PM Guys, Not sure of the above answer to the question. I was just wondering how many of you plan to get the Season 1 DVD? For those that do: 1.) Are you getting it right when it comes out? 2.) Are you going to wait for a price drop or review of the disks? 3) Are you going to wait for subsequent seasons on DVD, before purchasing them? Although I have waited for YEARS to see the show uncut. I think Season 1 is the weakest of the series. However, there are some stand-out classics like: "Sorry Right Number" "54-40 and Fight" "Vote For Brady" "Is There A Doctor in the House?" "The Hero" But the majority of the episodes don't have the sheer greatness to them until Reed started influencing the scripts in Season 2. The above are my favorite episodes from Season 1. Do you think it's worth the $30? Now, when we get to Season 2, things start really picking up! Just about all of the episodes of Season 3 (Except "Now A Word From Our Sponser"....yuck!) are gems! Same thing with Season 4! Season 5 starts out great, but flops toward the middle and end! Jack erin05 02-21-2005, 10:04 PM hey there!! well im from nz, and i am ordering it from amazon before its released, and its gonna cost me about $40 nz dollars. but im mainly getting it because the are cancelling it here. its only on one channel and this is the last week that its showing, and they are only at season 3!!! boechsner 02-22-2005, 08:34 PM Does anyone know if the episodes are going to be in airdate order or production order? falc04 02-23-2005, 10:16 AM I've had it on pre-order since the day Amazon listed it. As for a review, the two I've read give it a BIG thumbs up! Here's one of them: http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=14561 And as for the order they are in, it appears they are being shown in original air date order. Paramount tends to release their TV box sets like this. boechsner 02-24-2005, 01:47 AM And as for the order they are in, it appears they are being shown in original air date order. Paramount tends to release their TV box sets like this. Oh great! Now I'm disappointed. Hopefully this will be the only flaw with the set. I had my hopes up because early information released questioned the order. Especially since, for example, episode 8 aired as the next to the last episode of the season. So now, comes the important question. TV Land has a screwed up order for airing the episodes Law & Disorder which they air as a third season episode and the episodes Miss Popularity airs before The Elopement and in airdate order they should be switched around. Will Paramount release the episodes in this messed up order that TV Land airs them in. I find it hard to believe that they would, but, you never know. Why can't all companies just forget airdate order and do it the right way, like Columbia Tristar/Sony does. Geez! Jack1000 02-24-2005, 02:33 AM Guys, I've decided to get Season 1!!!! If you look around, you should be able to get it for less than $30! Jack falc04 02-24-2005, 01:07 PM Target will have it on sale for $17.99 next week, and Best Buy will have it for $19.99. You may just want to wait till it's released (March 1st), and take a ride to one of these stores...... **EDIT ==> My mistake of the prices...Best Buy has it for $27.99, and Taget has it for $29.99. Sorry about the confusion... SKay 02-24-2005, 04:21 PM Thanks for the info falc04. I had been on the list to be notified when it came out, but when I got my notification from Amazon, I decided to wait. We have all the episodes except 1 on tape, but I'm looking forward to seeing the scenes that had been cut. I may go out to Target next week! James 02-28-2005, 12:59 AM OK, I clicked on the link and read the description. Question: Under "The Quality," what are they saying in regards to the MacGyver DVDs? What's the story behind MacGyver? What's the story behind MacGyver? Hi James, I think your at the wrong forum. This is a Brady Bunch, NOT MacGyver forum. Sincerely, Jack TheHappyBurgerMeister 03-01-2005, 09:42 PM I still haven't bought the dvd yet, but I"m wondering if there's any extra features on it at all. Even if there isn't I'm still going to get it! erin05 03-01-2005, 11:34 PM go to www.bradyworld.com and there is a review there at the top. i think its got pictures :) and the commentrary for some episodes lol cant wait to get mine! Mia 03-03-2005, 02:56 AM Hi! I'm new to these boards and thought I'd make my first post on the Brady Bunch section :) Love the DVD set! I ran out Tuesday night and picked it up at Target (just had to get it on the first day it came out). It was $29.99 there (as someone already mentioned on here). And, there were only 3 copies left on the shelf. I guess it sold well on the 1st day of release (I see that someone on here mentioned 2 copies at their Target store). I've been so looking forward to this on DVD...glad it's finally here! falc04 03-03-2005, 02:30 PM Just picked mine up today at Sam's Club (couldn't wait for Amazon, so I canceled the order). It was $24.47. Can't wait to dive into it this weekend! gidgetgrape 03-03-2005, 02:32 PM I just picked mine up at Sam's Club too. It was $25.77. boechsner 03-03-2005, 07:42 PM I got mine, and I love it. I watched the first five episodes: The Honeymoon Dear Libby A Clubhouse is Not a Home Kitty Karry All is Missing Katchoo It's awesome, seeing the uncut episodes and discovering scenes I had never seen before and seeing scenes I hadn't seen since it aired in syndication. I can't wait until Season 2 is released. So far, this is my favorite release for 2005. erin05 03-04-2005, 02:13 AM ohhhhhhhhh u guys are so lucky! it probably wont even be released in nz lol i have to wait until amazon sends it lol :( but it will be worht the wait i hope :) falc04 03-04-2005, 01:21 PM I got mine, and I love it. I can't wait until Season 2 is released. So far, this is my favorite release for 2005. Last night I watched: Eenie, Meenie, Moomy, Daddy Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore And I also watched 'The Honeymoon', with Sherwood Schwartz's commentary. It amazing to me, to still hear him say bad things about Robert Reed. Without Robert Reed's input to keep the show fairly realistic, it would have been cornball-city. All in all, this is going to be a GREAT dvd set to watch again and again! Jack1000 03-04-2005, 02:50 PM Guys, I hopefully will get the DVD for my birthday!!! Hey, feel free to post for us any "new restored scenes" in our HUGE Brady Bunch Scene/Episode no longer aired thread!!! I would guess that there is at least 3 minutes of new footage on each episode that many of us have never seen! Jack TheHappyBurgerMeister 03-05-2005, 02:01 AM I just got it yesterday! I love the "animated" cover. Well, it's the kind where if you move the box their faces move in the squares! I wonder if all of the boxed are like that or just ones at Best Buy. I've watched a few episodes so far and the 2 commentaries with Barry, Chris, and Susan. I love seeing them talk about the episodes. I still need to watch the Sherwood commentary. Jack1000 03-05-2005, 03:52 PM Hey! I'll bet that when you see the uncut footage, the stories and scenes make so much more sense! Jack gidgetgrape 03-05-2005, 04:23 PM I love the "animated" cover. Well, it's the kind where if you move the box their faces move in the squares! I wonder if all of the boxed are like that or just ones at Best Buy. They are all like that. The animated effect is called lenticular. I'm still in love with my set too! I think it would have been nice if one of the special features would have been a tribute to Robert Reed. They could have showed some best of clips and had the actors talk about him. erin05 03-06-2005, 01:20 AM Hey! I'll bet that when you see the uncut footage, the stories and scenes make so much more sense! Jack yes! bcoz i remember watching "What goes up" ep (i think thats wats its called) and when peter was on the tramp carol says "i think thats high enuf" then she smiles and looks at mike and says "wow! isnt he good" or something. u culd tell that a bit had been cut out. falc04 03-15-2005, 01:00 PM according to tvshowsondvd.com, the 2nd season of the "bunch" will be hitting stores on July 12th....mark your calanders! erin05 03-15-2005, 11:24 PM o great thanks!! lol CANT WAIT! hehehe Jack1000 03-18-2005, 10:21 PM yes! bcoz i remember watching "What goes up" ep (i think thats wats its called) and when peter was on the tramp carol says "i think thats high enuf" then she smiles and looks at mike and says "wow! isnt he good" or something. u culd tell that a bit had been cut out. And Speaking of "What Goes Up?" Remember the scene with Greg on stilts encouraging Bobby to try them out in the backyard? That scene was cut years ago from all network versions. Barry's book, Growing up Brady even has a picture of that scene. This will be another restored cut that we can look forward to! I just have to get a fully working Season 1 DVD first! LOL! Jack erin05 03-20-2005, 12:45 AM o no! u still havnt got one that works yet :( bugga. i watched that wat goes up ep today, on tape. lol when they are at the tramp, i no greg calls jan 'eve' and im sure that carol calls peter 'chris' doesnt she say "go get em chris" or am i jsut hearing things? Tweety 03-20-2005, 12:54 PM o no! u still havnt got one that works yet :( bugga. i watched that wat goes up ep today, on tape. lol when they are at the tramp, i no greg calls jan 'eve' and im sure that carol calls peter 'chris' doesnt she say "go get em chris" or am i jsut hearing things? Nope...you're not hearing things.... Carol did call Peter "Chris" in that scene ("Heyyy, go get 'em Chris") and Greg does indeed call Jan "Eve" ("Why don't you give it a try, Eve?") It's fun spotting bloopers on the BB... (or I should say, it's fun seeing bloopers that other people have found)...i never would have even thought to look for things like that. erin05 03-21-2005, 12:48 AM yes i know! lol before the brady bunch came on tv (reruns, it was only on one channel) i just wanted to see that ep, just to see them say that :) lol i taped it i was so excited when it came on! it was funny. |
