I've always been very curious about the second floor of the Cleaver home at 211 Pine. Why on earth do Wally and Beaver have their own bathroom? Isn't this a little extravagant for two children? There certainly is a bedroom for Ward and June - but how many other rooms are on the second floor? There must be at least one other room on the second floor because Wally refers to a guest room in one episode. If there is a guest room, why do the two boys share a room? The Cleavers don't really need a guest room because they don't entertain overnight guests to any extent - oh, I suppose Aunt Martha and Uncle Billy were overnight guests now and then but their vists must have be very infrequent and cannot have warranted setting an entire room aside for their few visits. Wally was five years older than Beave and Wally should have had his own bedroom. Why do you suppose the boys had their own bathroom and why do you suppose they shared a bedroom?

I know it doesn't make sense. It's just for plot devices.

Well, I figured it was something like that. But I was speaking to someone who remembers the show from his childhood; he said it really bothered him as a kid that Beaver had his own bathroom. Little kids at the Cleaver's socio-economic level didn't have their own bathrooms. There must have been at least three bathrooms (maybe four) on the second floor in the Cleaver home! 1) Beaver's bathroom, 2) a bathroom in Ward and June's bedroom, 3) a bathroom somewhere in the hallway, and 4) a bathroom in the guest bedroom. Additionally, I think there's a lavatory on the first floor between the kitchen and the foyer. Don't you think this is probably one of the queerest and most inexplicable things about the show? All those bathrooms!
Yes; especially considering the (California) house on My Three Sons was about the same size and they had only one bathroom for the entire house, until Robbie and Katie had the triplets and they hired an ornary old contractor to knock out walls and build their "own little apartment."
