View Full Version : MKA' s stolen childhood
cherry_moon 01-18-2005, 07:22 AM Hi everyone , I recently saw an emission about the Olsen twins on the french TV.And i must admit that it really changed my mind about Ashley and Mary Kate : i ve ever thought that their movies and other TV appearences were really silly , so I didn t love them very much. But in the emission i ve seen , it was obviously shown that those girls didn t choose to be actresses and that their parents decided for them that they would become actresses. And so , they had to do a lot of things that they didn t want to do : they have to spend a very long time acting in their movies and they also have to appear in a lot of TV programms that really bothered them. And what i mean is that they seem very , very unhappy : they didn t have time for playing like other children do , they couldn t enjoy their childhood , and they had to do every day the same thing : acting , acting , acting...Moreover when the speaker asked their father if he personnally thought that his daughters were happy in their life , another man (a manager or something like that) answers for Mr Olsen and told that this one wasn t allowed to answer this question. So i really think their parents have stolen Mary Kate' s and Ashley ' s childhood , only for fame and money , and Mary Kate's recent illness showed that fact again. And thus , it clearly appears that i really prefer my own chilhood than the Olsen' s one : it s very awful to see how unhappy they can be because of their silly parents! And i think it s shameful ! What do you think about that?
Karen* 01-19-2005, 12:26 AM It just shows how pushy some parents can be. But look on the bright side, who else would play Michelle on Full House? If it wasn't for the Olsen twins, Full House wouldn't be as big as it was back then and as big as it is now. Even though I do feel sympathetic that they spent so many years, practically their whole childhoods making this sitcom, I'm glad they did because they made a lot of people happy.
cherry_moon 01-19-2005, 07:28 AM Maybe you re right. But what about their own happiness?
The french emission really showed that they weren t very happy in their life , and i think their parents could have think about this.
Moreover , i don t think mary kate and ashley made themselves Full House become a great show.Michelle' s part could have been play by another girl , without changing anything to Full House success...So i think it wasn t necessary to spoil the Olsen' s childhood , as the movies and series producers did..
Coory 01-19-2005, 09:16 AM They might not have liked all the moves and stuff but I think they loved doing Full House. They didnt take it well when the series ended so that tells me they liked doing the show.

It was indeed them. People loved them, they thought they were so cute, and for kids they delivered their lines very well. They got more fanmail than any other cast member. You just have to compare them to the other kids on the show...Jodie Sweetin played Stephanie's part well, but she's no icon. What about Nicky and Alex? They're not all that. It's hard to explain, but it is the Olsen's that made Full House the Full House we all know and love...some like Michelle more than others, and some may not like Michelle at all...but overall, Michelle was the most popular character and I couldn't see anyone else playing her part. Their childhood wasn't entirely stolen. They weren't followed by the paparazzi as children, in fact you were lucky if you got to see pictures of them in magazines as kids. Sure, they worked a lot, but they were asked. For every interview they were asked if they wanted to do it, and they didn't always agree to do them. Since they own their company, they set their schedule. If they had dance or horseback riding lessons, that day of work would stop for them to go do that. Ok, I've rambled on long enough...lol
cherry_moon 01-20-2005, 05:46 AM that's funny because i had never accorded any interest to the actress who played michelle , before visiting Full House websites , i don' t think they were more gifted than other actresses of their age.Anyway , i can swear you that on the french emission it was clearly showed that mary kate and ashley weren' t very happy. You' re right to say that they had everything to be happy , but i don' t think this is the case , they really seem to have the feeling that they didn' t really have the childhood they would have want to...

True but ALOT of people find Michelle annoying as she got older, so I think alot of that "wained", so to me they didn't make Full House what it was. It was a team effort by the whole cast ;)
